I spent most of last week at Meta Connect, trying out Meta's new VR Glasses. In a lot of ways this device is actually incredible, pushing current hardware manufacturing for VR headsets into a new age.. but incredible form factor comes with some incredible tradeoffs and compromises. Pulling up to that Meta afterparty in a Steam Frame is wild lmao love that
So happy to see some activity on this channel!
I really like that new VR devices are still getting made, and i actually feel like with some of the Headsets we have now, like the beyond, the Glasses now and Quest 3, Frame, that we've finally made some meaningful advances on the Hardware side since 2016. Yet i use VR so little nowadays, due to the enormous lack of software. The next big step for VR has to come from the Software side
eye tracking data should be amazing for targeted ads
watched you in covid days, really happy to see you still kickin and doin well, all love brotha.
They're calling this the pinkest video ever. I actually like Phoenix quite a bit, but obviously there were some pretty brutal compromises made. I urge you to try them out if you have the chance when demoes open up. As a VR nerd, it's a very interesting device. This video was entirely made possible by my Patreon supporters. Thank you so much! putting the actual compute off the headset/glasses is something I've wanted to see more of for a while. I can buy a phone that is plenty powerful and is vapor chamber cooled , but not a wearable computer that is VR capable, even though we have the tech to get there.
Well, that explains why Rooted QPro has settings to turn eye and FT cameras to 90hz. Seriously, Root your Quest Pro, full face tracking, and today someone got the touchpad working on the controllers (after YEARS of it just existing) Gaze + Pinch is just a TOGGLE in the hidden debug settings and it works *GREAT*. Been using it daily on my Quest Pro for a months now.
2 vids in about 2 weeks YUPPEEEEEEE
Im so happy to see the goat back in action
I mean, it's nifty, but I'm still looking for a proper augmented reality HUD. also screw facebook.
we’re so back
70FOV is criminal
1. I'm super happy that people are still working on VR devices, and the technology is moving forward. 2. This product is super cool, and for somebody who has to take a small-form-factor PC to hotel rooms, this is completely up my alley. 3. The only issue, like you said in the video, is that it's made by Meta.
Okay, I want these as an alternative to a laptop. I hate being without a computer, but I also hate lugging around a laptop. These seem like the perfect solution.
Watching a video on your channel after a while!! Good to see you !! Long live VR
I wish more headsets would go the way of the PUCK, way lighter headset and can potentially put more compute power/battery in the puck/headset
Fov is my main deal breaker.
10:06 some how this made watching someone play beat saber look even funnier 😂
Always thought that offloading as much a possible to a belt-mounted pack made sense. Not just for weight but also modularity, allowing you to pick & choose what features you want in the driving hardware.
