We started the day with plans to fill the trailer with trees for the new property, but things definitely didn’t go as planned. So we traded tree shopping for a little antique shopping in Cottonwood, explored some of our favorite vintage shops, found a few goodies, and turned a frustrating start into a pretty fun day. As someone who owned a retail store for 31 years and retired this year, that was a brutal experience to watch you go through. No excuse. They needed clearer advertising, (not clickbait, created to lure innocent shoppers to drive miles and then disappoint them). At a minimum, large signs should have been posted with the conditions clearly shown, so that shoppers would immediately know the ground rules. Other folks, like you, likely drove miles to shop and were left terribly disappointed. Not the heartwarming experience you expected to have and leaves a very bad impression! Undermines their credibility. And I just noticed their huge sign out front says 40% off, (with no conditions shown).
Agree with you not returning to that garden centre. Poor experience.
OH man, they should have honored that......
Robbie, I’m sure someone has already suggested this or you’re working on it, but given how many trees and shrubs you’ll be buying, it might be worth connecting directly with wholesale growers/nurseries. Local landscapers may be able to introduce you to their suppliers, or you could approach wholesalers through your YouTube channel and mention the scale of your project. They may offer volume pricing or have special days when non-trade customers can visit. Could be a great way to save on costs and discover some interesting plants too!
That is incredibly deceptive!!!! There's no other way to read it than the way you did. Mostly, I feel badly for the trees that didn't get to come home with you. They would have had such a great life!
I cackled when I saw the hat. You to a tee! Love it! Poor PR for the garden center....their loss!
Sorry about your trees 🌲. That was so not right
Wow that would have made me SO mad. They need to be clear when they post an ad. I agree with you that would have been my last visit.🌻
Very disappointing about the trees - better things will come your way. I always enjoy your shopping - such neat places!
I KNEW that you were going to grab that hat as soon as I saw it!! Such fun!!
I wouldn't be going back to that nursery either. They could at least work some kind of deal with you because it is misleading their ad.
Robbie and Brent you should go check out Gold Leaf Nursery in Redding, it's pretty much right around the corner from Wyntour. They have ALL 1 gallon and larger plants/shrubs/trees 40% off until the 17th. It's not large like Wyntour but they have some good finds. If anything, it would be some good content.
Shame on that nursery. I'd never return there either. They just lost a lot of business. They would have been smart to honor the ad. Well, glad you then had fun shopping in town at those great shops. The ferns in that last shop were gorgeous. You're so funny in those shops. You crack me up. You both & Freya are the best on YouTube .. can't wait to see your daily videos. Have a great rest of the week. 😊❤
That nursery pricing mix-up was such a frustrating bummer after driving all the way out there, but honestly, pivoting to an antique shopping day in Cottonwood looked like the coziest way to save the afternoon—and those little vintage pieces you found are going to look so cute in the new space! 🍂
Their ad was very clear and very specific. That is simply false advertising. I wouldn't patronize a business like that either.
The thing is that more than 3k people had a bad experience at this Nursery. They'd have done themselves a favor by honoring their own advertisement. And it wouldn't have really cost them anything. Even if it were just a one of.
I don’t like to be tricked with advertising either!😠 Sorry they had you all excited and then let down! Us too! But glad for the shopping adventure! Love it when you shop!!!😊❤❤❤
Yes some red foliage trees would be pretty in front of the yellow foliage trees! So excited for you!
Sorry for the experience but maybe Happy Accident?!? Did you watch yesterday’s Dig Plant Repeat? Her landscaper friend took her to a wholesale grower where she bought a lot of trees!!
Squirrels love pine cones!
