Huh, I was blaming "faulty" smart home devices that need to live on 2.4 GHz... maybe its my usb 3.0 that is killing it?

This is why there's been the push for 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

I honestly never had or heard of this issue... but it definitely explains why I find "As-Is" or "broken" mice on eBay that have nothing wrong with them...

When I decided to finally buy a wireless gaming mouse instead of my old Logitech office 10€ mouse, I started experiencing extremely frequent wifi crashes, sometimes leading to crazy ping numbers up to 29000ms. After a lot of trouble shooting, I ended up figuring out the 2.4ghz mouse usb dongle was responsible for those crashes. I just ended up buying an ethernet cable, which solved my problem, gave me faster internet speed and lower ping.

I can confirm! My mouse dongle interferes with my 2.4 GHz WiFi. Thankfully I have 5 GHz as well so it's not an issue.

Whoever would’ve thought? Thank you. I’ll keep this filed away under crazy mouse behavior. Usually just plug the usb mouse into a 2.0 port on the back anyways. Don’t seem to have any problems. I Wouldn’t be a bit suprised if this leaking radio energy was a deliberate design choice for data interception by a 3letter spy agency
