You've reached the end
Back in the day, basic life necessities were cheap and luxuries were expensive. Now, luxuries are cheap and basic life necessities are expensive.
It’s pretty funny how goods/products we don’t actually need have consistently fallen in price while goods/products we need have consistently increased in prices.. and this has been happening for a long time..
Because they are collecting your data and displaying ads on the TV.
Just to be clear, a big reason why they're so cheap is because they're basically massive advertisement boxes. They don't make their money on the actual sale of the TV, they make their money on ads.
I paid 3200 for the 42" Sony LCD TV in my family room. I bought it over 20 years ago. Long enough ago that it has analog tv tuners in it. Has S-Video, Component video, HDMI, and VGA inputs. Built in speakers that still work great. Not a single bad pixel. Same size TV today would be $200 and last about 3 or 4 years before it stops working.
When I first got out of prison in 2002 I went to work for Sears doing the price point and inventory control. We had a TV there that was 9,998 🤦🏼♂️ we have come a longgggggg way!!!!
I remember the first plasma tv I ever saw was back in like 2002 I think. It was in Best Buy and it was about a 32" pioneer and it was $10,000.
Man im old if you were a kid when flat screens came out lol
I bought my 50 inch tv for $200 going on 4 years ago and it’s still going strong.
I bought 1 Vizio. A couple years later. I was standing in the doorway to bedroom, heard a pop, and the Vizio logo was dark. Never turned on again.
It just depends on the features, not the Size. You can buy a 75" Samsung TV Crystal UHD for $530. You can also buy a 75" Samsung Tv Class Neo QLED for $4,999.99
I was getting a tattoo one night because my best friend knew a guy that does awesome work. Well I went with him and we pulled up to a mansion. I was like who in the fuck do you know that lives here? He said my tattoo friend. I walked in and the first thing that I saw after walking into the living room was a TV that I can only describe as a flat screen the size of a bedroom wall. It had to be like 10 foot tall by 20 foot wide. Enormous. Then I didn't see the damn sign at the end of the driveway. It said Indian Reservation. I'm not going to say which one out of respect. This guy was full on American Indian. His name was awesome. Steve Running Wolf. He did awesome Halo tattoos on me.
don't forget there's only a handful of companies making flat screens back down and they were all high price name brands
I paid $1200 for a 47 inch Phillips in 09
Our first tv was 1200$<the cost of a house 1970, next one was 1200$ <the cost of a car 1980, The next one was 1200$ <the cost of 1/10th a car 2003 cars were 12000$ but 2008 they were 32000$ Now tv cost 100$ and a car cost 64000$
Yeah but they're all spyware now
My first flat screen was the same 32-inch Vizio. I got it for 400 bucks in 2010. They got cheap, quick.
$400 ain’t no chicken feed. If that’s a drop in the bucket, buy me one son
They're cheap because they're selling your data on watch times, shows your watching, stuff your streaming, even the room its in. Its recording your conversations and selling that data too. No, it doesn't need to be on your wifi to send it off, it's using either its own internal data port, your power line, or it's sniffing Bluetooth or open wifi in the neighborhood. Its cheap because you are the product, not the TV.
I knew people who paid $5500 for 48" flat screens when they first started coming out. My last 55" TV cost $189.
