Today I’m back in my little room of potential, giving it another much-needed cottage makeover and getting one step closer to making this forgotten space feel like part of my home. I’m tackling the old wallpaper, trying a surprisingly effective wallpaper removal trick, narrowing down some beautiful cottage-style wallpaper choices and finally getting some paint onto the walls. Or at least… that was the plan. What looked like a very easy DIY job had a little surprise waiting for me! There’s also plenty of slower autumn pottering along the way, with a few jobs in the garden as we move into the new season. I’m really enjoying taking my time with this room, experimenting with ideas and letting the finished look evolve rather than rushing to get it all done. If you love cosy cottage interiors, English country style, wallpaper, DIY room makeovers, gardening and making a home feel a little more whimsical, I hope you enjoy spending the day with me. And I need your help: which wallpaper would you choose? I’m still deciding, so let me know your favourite in the comments! Number 1 is my favorite. I like wallpaper, too. To remove it, I mix fabric softener with hot water in a spray bottle. Works great.
My favourite wallpaper was number 1. Very pretty, very dainty and in keeping with the colour and floral decor throughout your home. Also it would be easy to add to with floral bedding etc and wouldn’t overpower a small room.
Number 1 is my favourite. Its very warm and lovely and will not over power such a tiny room.
I have been loving butter yellow. For quite awhile now. I love the direction you are going in. nothing like a cozy country room to put a smile on my face
No 1 Catherine, nice cozy warm wallpaper. Paint the wardrobe buttery yellow to match the wallpaper. It will be beautiful 💛💛
Number 1, that was you have satisfied your butter yellow urge and it will look beautiful. Hope you are feeling much better. Take care of you. Lexie
Love #3 wallpaper. The flowers are lovely
Liquid fabric softner, with some warm water, sprayed on the wall, will remove wallpaper like it was never there.
Wallpaper #1 and paint the paneling a pale yellow.
WOW! The consensus appears to be # 1 wall paper!
Bravo Catherine! Your determination is commendable!! Your ability to keep going amidst setbacks is inspiring and so helpful to all of us.. Thank you for sharing the journey! ❤
I love number 1 the pattern is dainty. I think you can place some nice blue dotted around as accent color and if you get tired of the blue then you can bring in some lovely green sage and butter yellow.
No. 1 is beautiful.
No 1 is lovely 😊it’s your choice you have to live with it ❤
I say go with Nr. 1, I love yellow these days too!
Glad you are feeling better nd can’t wait to see how the room turns out
I really like #1. I’m from New England and it has that look to it. #2 really does complement the other patterns in your house. Thank you for your honesty, Catherine. How awful to have to deal with that goop! I’m sure you will be helping so many people from that problem. Loved the garden, as always!
I like #1. A ray of sunshine would make that my favorite room. ❤💛
I am so sorry for the walls but knowing you, it’s going to be beautiful 🥰
Wow! You are back on the job! Take care now.. be patient and loving to yourself from all of us 💕 I love nr 1, the yellow! I planted safran krokus for the first time, in pots! Love the wall garden! 🌸 tea breaks are the best!
