Here is the thing, it's almost impossible to sue a big corporation especially when you have a patent. That's really because big corporation lawyers can extend the lawsuit no matter how long even if it's really unlikely they could win the case. The longer you hold out in the trail, the more exponentially expensive it becomes. To the point where it becomes almost impractical or impossible to continue with the trials. This particular lawsuit was 5.7 billion with a 4-year long process. Top dollar for some of the best lawyers that you can find, big corporations like Apple can find better team of lawyers. Eventually it becomes a waiting game of when will you run out of money.
