Everybody asks why there's a shortage of technicians. This is why. Look how much has to come off just to get to one small part, then try doing it on flat rate while the shop bills the customer four times what you take home. Techs buy their own tools, warranty their own work and still get told they're complaining #mechanic #car #workshop

Pay techs by the hour. Pay them real money. Pay them a tool stipend. Factories need to pay real book hours. Not warranty hours. My local Ford dealer current labor rate is $214. I think they can afford to pay the techs right.
This is why dealership cant find techs 😂😂😂
“That’s 3 days of work, 4 YouTube tutorials , and about 137 rewinds just to replace one damn part.”
A wise man once told me a long time ago that they don't want you to fix them. They want you to buy another one
At this rate it seems like soon we're going to have to take out the engine just to do an oil change😂

I love working on Older Cars!! These Newer ones Are Scary!!😂
That would take me an entire weekend.
And fingers crossed the part isn't faulty outa the box
the dealerships only will understand when there's no more technicians...
All this can be fixed if you lock car designers in a room with a tech for just five minutes
Using all the same connectors is diabolical
I remember swapping engine in 90s Hondas it was so easy every plug was different and only like 3 socket sizes
Double check your labor time, this Mercedes has 2 PCV valves. One on top of the valve cover hidden under the HPFP shield. And one under driver side engine mount bracket. Together they pay about 8 hours. The 2.2 hours is for the PCV valve on top of the engine not the one under the engine mount bracket. Sorry brother!
I was a mechanic and F that crap. Stuff happens, bolts break and you don't getvpaid anymore for the BS that happens. So you end up working more hours for free than the hours you get paid for. F that book hour bullshit. Sometimes it works out on your favor but no enough to off set the ones that dont. My breaking point was when i worked on a car from up north everything was rusted and almost ever bolt i touched broke. I spend like 10 hours doing a 4 book hour job. I got paid for 4 hours. When the customer came to pick up the car, i walked in the office area to use the bathroom. Then i over herd the boss telling the customer about how badly rusted the car was showed him a hand full of broken bolts and charged him for 15 hours labor. I still only got paid for 4 hours. Needless to say i lost my mind and they almost had to call the police because i wad going to kill the boss. He had been doing that the whole time i worked there. He would charge for the BS but didn't pay the mechanic for it ever. Its been 20 some years and I'd still end that man if i found him in a dark alleyway!!
That’s a terrible placement for a PCV, which is a known wear item. Why not just put it on top like most other manufacturers? Sheesh.
Moral to the Story: Sell your post 1994 vehicle, and buy a pre 1994 vehicle.
As a 63b in the army, a full service tech on civi side, i am now an uber eats delivery driver.
