Wreckfest must be therapeutic for sim racers
Thanks for sharing my skating clip, Jimmy! Glad to hear that you liked it! That road is roughly 50mph in a pack. I will definitely skate with the go-pro more often to share more!
I'm the guy who made the SFL Mugello pass, I'm glad I'm in the video!
7:14 PIR is Portland International Raceway. Probably best known for the IndyCar race, but it also used to have ALMS/IMSA
I can't believe I've never thought of trying to get some longboarding clips on the show
18:30 downhill Longboarder here. You basically have to wear skateboarding shoes for this. You need the movement of the ankles to be free to control the board and the flat sole for the grip. Trying to skate with something like boots would be like trying to type with thick wool mittens on. When you crash, you try to slide the speed out with your protective gear, shoes don't play a huge role in that, you're sliding on your pads.
18:00 I did longboard downhill racing when I was young and very dumb. Even with the gear, experience, good roads, everything, it was still a bit terrifying every time. You have to lock in so hard, any little movement can throw off your balance and then it's good bye track, hello trees. You can easily go 40-50mph on an average downhill track.
Did you watch that race where they uploaded the Bahrain firmware to the Sepang circuit for some un known reason?
Some info on the bikes, Jimmy. The Yamaha R3 is a parallel twin, roughly 300cc motor. Nice, more modern features, including fuel injection. The Kawasaki ZX-4 is a roughly 400cc inline 4 engine, and at that point probably had carburetors. According to a brief internet search, pre-1989 would also make it a Japan-only model!

Wheeeeeey I used to compete in Greenpower races for like 3-4 years back in school in early 2000s! We built the car as part of our design and technology lessons and then raced endurance races at Goodwood!! They were battery-powered cars and you had 2 12v batteries so while you’re running one, you charge the other and swap them in the pits. There was a lot of strategy and power management involved. Such good times! Later, in 6th form, we build a battery drag racer for it too!
Jimmy, loving this new contra series to sim racing stewards, Sim Racing Wins is important too.
Wreckfest must be therapeutic for sim racers ......
Hey Jimmer, motorcycle racing is actually shockingly safe due to the minimum equipment/gear requirements being so high. Many times with small displacement racing like you saw early in the video, the gear can cost more than the bikes.
3:15 "Luigi wins by doing nothing" Never thought I would hear that again
The Road Atlanta video is just a nice showcase of "To finish first, you must first finish."
2:54 The Ferrari in the grass isn't actually part of the race, he's just trying to get to Hartsfield-Jackson before his flight takes off
I have found that in LMU specifically, the easiest way to get podium at the end of a bronze daily race is to start from the pit lane. You get free overtakes just by people being idiots and your safety rating doesn’t take a hit
