What should have been the first wet race for F1's new-generation cars got off to an embarrassing start at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. Edd Straw and Jon Noble explain exactly what happened to trigger the bizarre scenes of cars slowing to a crawl on the formation lap, how it was resolved, and whether it could happen again. 00:00 What went wrong 01:51 Why it happened 03:34 How it was fixed 05:59 Why different cars were affected in different ways 08:47 How bad is this for F1? 10:48 Could it happen again? Pinnacle of Motorsport 🥴
I don't understand why F1 still has Full Wet tyres? They always stop the race whenever they are about to get used.
Remember when Max warned everyone and people said he was lying and crying?
They can't have traction control, but they have all this stuff.
Sooo…an entire grid needed a software update in order just to get a race started 🙄. Never thought I’d live to see the day when this sort of 💩 would happen. Pathetic.
I truly hate these regulations. Let the driver's right foot alone determine how much power reaches the rear wheels. Period!
I like the fact that an old-school track just wandered in to the calendar and exposed the regs and cars in this way.
F1 is a metaphor for our current society: An overload of artificial enshiittification that nobody wanted or asked for
The F1 2026 and the 50/50 power split is one huge farce, not just this race.
Call me old fashioned but I prefer the drivers foot deciding the power output.
The fact that people are even having to post an 11 minute video on how much these cars depend on software to run is a disgrace to F1, and to racing in general. This should be treated as a turning point. The only fix is to scrap these regs.
Pinnacle of Motorsport and you can't even race in the rain properly 😑
And people were shitting on max for calling these cars shit
Remember when FIA rules said the driver needed to control the car at all times without electronic aids? FIA 2026 violates its own core principles.
These are just laptops equipped with tyres
From the regulations to race direction, F1 is an absolute shit show from front to back.
F1 went the wrong way. We are talking batteries, recharging, software and other Formula E stuff. And all the while we are running turbocharged V6 engines using renewable fuels, but you hear nothing about it. They should be screaming renewable fuel left right and center and put it in a screaming V8 or V10 without all the hybrid stuff. A lot cheaper, less complicated and above all a much smaller and lighter engine package. Then leave it to the marketing department to make "F1 Renewable" sound green.
Can we all agree now that these engine regs need throwing in the skip! 🤦🏻♂️
1. Remove race of battery 🔋 2. Remove AI from car. 3. Only driver and engineer needs to control the car.
This is fucking ridiculous... these are racing cars, the engine should just be an element that gives out the most power that the drivers have to control in order to go as fast as possible around a circuit. All this clowning around with software is idiotic.
