Buy My NEW Ebook — The Senior Scam Safety Handbook: Learn what to say, what to check & what to do when faced with suspicious calls, messages & payment requests—so you can spot warning signs, respond confidently & protect your money. https://safe-senior-calls.lovable.app/ You answer an unfamiliar number and say “Hello?” — but there’s nothing. Just silence. Then, a few seconds later, someone suddenly starts talking. That strange pause may have an explanation. In this video, we uncover why scam, spam, and telemarketing calls can sometimes have a noticeable delay after you answer. Automated dialing systems can place large numbers of calls and only connect an answered call to an available operator after detecting a real person — creating those awkward seconds of silence. We’ll also explore robocalls, attempts to identify active phone numbers, common scam tactics, and the warning signs that should make you suspicious. Most importantly, you’ll learn simple ways to respond safely when an unexpected caller asks for personal information, passwords, verification codes, banking details, or money. That three-second silence doesn’t automatically prove a call is fraudulent, but understanding why it happens can help you recognize suspicious situations. Watch until the end and share this video with someone who regularly receives unknown calls.

My 85 year-old mother-in-law answered one of those scammer calls and it was one of those grandma calls and the person said grandma I’m really in trouble. I need you to wire me some money. I’m out of town and please don’t tell my parents. she realized both of her grandsons were at work and this was a scam so she made up a name and said “Leroy is that you?” And of course, he said yes.. She replied with “Leroy I never even liked you and hung up the phone. 😂😂😂
Our government needs to ban these auto dialers
So much for the government’s “Do Not Call” program…
Never answer a call from a number that's not in your contacts.
Scammers are the worst form of human life.
There Should Be Open Season On All Scammers. 😡
All scammers should get a minimum ten years in prison with all assets sold and distributed to their victims. Harsh laws and harsh punishment is the only way to stop it .
My wife and I have a simple solution to this. First, we never answer phone calls from someone we don't know. If it's important, they'll leave a message. Second, we just let it ring until it stops ringing. It seems to work because we get roughly one "bot" call every few weeks or months. I guess they send the message that our phone number no longer has a person at the end of the call. Meanwhile, my friend gets several of these calls a day, and he answers and asks them to put him on the "do not call" list. Well, I told him my strategy, and the calls have stopped for him too.
It's a shame that this is done to seniors
Ironic that this is AI. Warning you about AI scams lol
My neighbor has counted 61 SCAMMERS calls in 1 day! I seen it with my own eyes in his call log! These SCAMMERS are relentless in harassment!😮😮😮
My theory is, if it's important they will leave a message. I don't answer numbers that I don't know.
Social Security does not phone or text you ever 👍🏼
I have ignored calls from friends that were not in my contacts, so now i'll pick up a call but stay silent, if its a real person they'll say hello as soon as i pick up, if its a bot there'll be silence , so then i just hang up
Why is no government running scammers down for good.
My mom, 84, living alone, got a call, supposedly from me, that I needed her to send me money. She kept the caller on the line for about an hour before she told him he didn't sound like me, and then asked him, if I was her son, what my birthday was. He was upset because he had wasted so much time on her, but she thought it was pretty funny.
The Government could stop this in one day, but they will not because some of those scammer's donate to their back door bank accounts. Politicians can care less as long as they are making money!
They'll hang up if you ask: "Are you calling from India?"
I keep a very loud whistle by my phone. Silence? I blow it hard😂😂😂😂
An elderly member of my family had a fatal heart attack as the result of one these grandchild scam calls. It's just savage.
