Kids are emotional, I'm emotional, everyone needs something, we're running late, and somehow I'm supposed to keep up with all of it while also remembering that these are the days I'm going to miss someday. In this video, I'm bringing you along for a few very full days around here — the good, the hard, the emotional, the exciting and all the little everyday things in between. We talk about those hard mornings with kids, emotional days, and my thoughts on all of the spirit days at school. I also share a birthday celebration that was SO sweet but, of course, somehow made me emotional too. 😂 We have some exciting pool updates! We got TWO different mockups for the space, so I'm sharing both with you because I need your opinions. Which one do you like better? What would you add? What would you take away? I want to hear all of your ideas! We also got some new furniture, I'm making a couple of recipes, and FINALLY — I ordered Wolfgang's birthday party things. Just in time. 😂 Because apparently waiting until the last possible second is one of my love languages. It's really just a little snapshot of life right now — five kids, birthdays, school, house projects, meals, decisions, emotions, a million things happening at once and me trying to keep up with all of it. And honestly, that's what I love about these videos. Life isn't always perfectly organized or beautifully planned. Sometimes it's overwhelming. Sometimes it's really fun. Sometimes I'm exhausted and sometimes I'm so grateful I could cry. Most of the time… it's all happening at the exact same time. Thanks for watching, hanging out, and being a friend. ❤️ And PLEASE let me know what you think about the pool mockups! I need your help! 😂 #TheWads #MomLife #DayInTheLife #MomOf5 #FamilyVlog #LifeLately #RealMomLife #HomeProjects #Motherhood

You mentioned that we as parents don’t have the option but to do do do. Respectfully I disagree. We don’t have to sign up for everything especially for young ones. And it’s ok for them to be disappointed if they don’t get every opportunity.. it’s good for them actually (even if it’s hard for us as parents to say no). If you want to and it suits your family of course ! But if it’s too much step back and choose not to: we don’t want to be MARTYR MOMS. I stumbled upon that definition and shifted my entire perspective
I don't think you realize how good of a mom you are. You don't have to do it all and your kids WILL be disappointed. Disappointment is part of life. They will be prepared for adulthood 😅
I made “This is my participation shirt” tshirt for all the kids. They wear it on pirate day and whatever other nonsense days they don’t have an interest in dressing up for.
Girl, we do not participate in every single thing. I would drive myself crazy, and the kids would be drove crazy too. Give yourself some grace. You're doing a great job ❤
When I feel that way my husband says, "the fact that you're upset right now means you're a good mom. If you weren't, you wouldn't even care" ❤️
Kim, your overwhelm is coming from you. Stop trying to be a “super mom” who does everything, most of which your kids won’t even remember. Do they WANT you doing all this stuff? Or have they learned to expect it because that’s what you’ve always done? How much of this are you actually doing for THEM, and how much is stemming from your constant need to be perfect? How much of what you do is ENTIRELY motivated by them, and how much is motivated by your desire to appear perfect. Let them be disappointed sometimes. It’s good training for life. Life WILL disappoint them in so many random ways and it doesn’t seem like you’re preparing them for any of that. How much of this is pure performance? What exactly are you teaching your daughters about caring for themselves and setting boundaries. They will do what they see you do, regardless of what you say. Why are you teaching them to sacrifice themselves on the alter of social media and keeping up with Joneses? And for the love of god, where is your husband during all of this? Does he just do nothing or do you actively stop him from stepping in to lighten your load? Are you teaching your sons to expect their wives to slave all day and all night and break their backs and spirits to “do it all?” Again, they will expect women to do what you do. And how much of this is for engagement purposes? At the end of the day, I do believe that you are overwhelmed and stressed (and possibly perimenopausal), but I also believe that it’s largely due to choices YOU are making. Kids don’t have to do and be involved in and dressed for absolutely everything. Sometimes a party can just be a cake and some friends, family and music. Not everything needs to be a production. You could lighten your load considerably if you really wanted to. Your kids will remember all the times they saw you cry and saw you burn yourself out more than they will any themed party you make.
You are there for them and care. You are not failing as a parent. Not everything falls on you.
You are such a hard-working mom. You get SO much done, I am always impressed. It's ok if your kids are not enrolled in everything. They need some time to be bored in order to develop their creativity. Plus disappointment builds character AND gets them prepared for real life. Lots of love to you ❤❤❤
Our mom's did the best they could do with what they knew and when we decide to forgive their human mistakes then we won't be so hard on ourselves for our shortcomings. We are all human and there is no perfect parent.
For drop off, when our Velcro baby was in preschool, sometimes it was helpful to have Dad do the drop off instead of mom to get through a rough patch. For the clingy little ones, sometimes it’s easier to see Dad walking away compared with Mom walking away. We also had one where the teacher had to get him interested in something and then we could slip out. If I tried to say goodbye to him, he would completely lose it It felt like a horrible thing to do, but it worked great and it was totally fine. And he’s now a very well adjusted 16-year-old!
Please don’t ever forget, you are the woman across the room to some of us. You are such a wonderful, inspiring, beautiful, caring and hard working woman. The joy that you are blessed and filled with is contagious. Thank you for sharing your light and being there to put a little happy in our day! God Bless you and your family ❤
One important thing children need to learn when they're very young, is the consequences of their choices. It will set them up to succeed in life. You chose these clothes, you wear these clothes. You are such an amazing mom because you care so much! ❤❤❤
If it helps, my mom once gave me some grounding advice: “The best thing you can give your kids is a happy mom.” All the enrichment and traditions really doesn’t matter if they can feel your overwhelm and stress. It’s something I continually think about in a time of so much material abundance and opportunity. Figure out the things that matter most and then identify the simple ways to do these things.
These frustrating moments......"these too shall pass"! Keep smiling 😊
I started perimenopause at 40, my daughter just turned 40 this past summer, she was starting to get emotional & felt in an emotional rollercoaster, she feels she’s starting perimenopause. Watching your videos, just wondering if you are starting it as well. If so, it’s helpful to know why you’re feeling this way
Kim, the amount of times I wanted to reach through the screen and give you a hug! 🤗 You are an amazing mom, an inspirational woman and an incredibly thoughtful friend! Thank you for being a friend ❤
Saying NO and meaning it as A Mom was the best thing I did for well behaved kids. You will always lose negotiating with kids. Giving in to every whim will create a monster toddler, teen and adult. You ignore tantrums and drop them off at the class and leave. Nothing harder than being a Mom 24 / 7.
Oh Kim, I just want to give you a big hug. I would absolutely cry right along with you. You are a great mom and they will remember all the things you do to make them know they are loved 💕
Oh, Mama! It is the hardest, most important, and rewarding job, but you are doing it! Your team will look back one day and say those were the good old days. Blessings to all of you!
Kim,love your videos so much! You are such a light in this world!!! Your last video you were beating yourself up for being indecisive, it’s not your fault. I won’t pretend to know you, but if you grew up like me and from a few stories you have told, i feel you may have. Maybe you never got the autonomy to choose anything you really wanted or liked. You may have always chosen what you knew everyone else wanted of you. So you literally never learned what you really like or wanted and now that you can it just feels wrong and you don’t know how. It’s not your fault, nothing wrong with you!! Have fun finding you girl!! And be kind to yourself ❤ so much love 💕 I hope this helps you feel a little bit seen. You are not alone.
