So... I Played Hellraiser: Revival

This game feels like Terminator Resistance. A so-so game, but one that perfectly captures the setting and story of the movies, where you can tell the developers were actual fans.

Honestly 2006 gameplay sounds refreshing compared to modern gaming.

I understand you are annoyed that the box can only telekinetically throw sawblades and spikes and not propane tanks, but you must remember that it was a gift from Pinhead, not Hank Hill.

Keep in mind the protagonist went into the equivalent of hell with his meat out 😂😂😂

Long live obsessively detailed AA games based on long-squandered 80s genre film franchises with nonetheless active fanbases! It's a hyper-specific niche, but it just keeps hitting.

This is definitely a double A title. A high quality one, but double A all the same. Not sure how big the team is (Saber is just the publisher and not developing this one) so I can cut them some slack on gameplay. Especially since this isn’t a full price release. We need more of this stuff. And attention to detail is off the charts. You can tell the devs really love this IP. Which is refreshing.

G-man I don't think you understand how much of a compliment saying that the game plays likes its from 2006 not 2026 is.

Literally what i wanted from this game - oldschool horror shooter from mid 00's that's not trying to be something more than just rollercoaster ride of gore and monster shooting.

Honestly, I think it's pretty great that a game is able to explore these kind of sexual horror themes in an interesting way. I always feel like games tiptoe around sexuality so this is cool to see.

Everything you say about the game brings just one thought to mind: this Hellraiser game is basically Condemned 3. I am totally on board with that.

It really is crazy that we never get proper single player games in established horror IP’s. It’s always the asymetrical Dead By Daylight clone. Surely there has to be money to be made here, and I think this one is going to prove just that. I’m playing on a PS5 Pro, and the game isn’t Pro enhanced, and image quality is pristine at a locked 60 fps. This feels like a proper polished product. I’m just happy we got something at all. And 2006 gameplay sounds pretty good after some of the recent ‘modern gameplay’ we’ve had in recent memory.
