If your downloads crawled on the first PS4, the console was a big part of the reason. Most home routers send out two kinds of Wi-Fi. One reaches further but is slower, and nearly everything in the house shares it, from phones and TVs to the interference from a microwave. The other is faster and far less crowded. The PS4 that launched in 2013 could only connect to the slower, busier one. That was down to the wireless part inside the console and had nothing to do with a setting, so no system update could ever change it. Games kept getting bigger for three years while the console kept pulling them through the most congested signal in the house. Sony added the faster Wi-Fi in 2016 with the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro. The original model never got it, which is why a network cable is still the fix. #minecraft #gaming #technology #bytetalk #playstation #download #viralshorts #shorts

It depends on your router and your broadband speed anyway. Also 5Ghz only works in shorter ranges. If your PS4 was upstairs and your router was downstairs and not even under you/in an old brick house you couldn't use 5GHz anyway...
Bro , my ps4 slim downloads fortnite for 5 days
2.4ghz is not "the busiest lane" It just doesn't have the same speed potential as the 5ghz and 2.4ghz is better at going through walls and reaching farther. The 2 types of signals serve different purposes. 2.4ghz is for farther away, through walls, and low data transfer devices. 5ghz is for closer and higher demand devices.
Wrong. You can configure routers with any frequency. 6.4ghz is the fastest, but it drops speeds from 5gbps down to 10mbps if you move 2 feet away. The bottleneck is the router’s processor and memory. Mine is capped at 500mbps for wifi because the processor is trash. But I only use ethernet 1gbps throughput
I wish I could do this on my PS5 but my WiFi router is genuinely 10 years old
I never know that since I thought my games were too big.
Hard drive write speed is another issue on the PS4, swapping in an SSD was well worth it
This was a big shock. Bought a ps4 to play bloodborne and was confused why my wifi wasn't showing up. Glad i was with xbox all that time
And switch 2 still has this problem.
oh that must be why the microwave made me disconnect from games
literally i had the fat model and my brother had the slim, he had the 5ghz conenction while i only had the 2.4ghz 😭
my ps4 slim took over a week trying to download a mw2019 update
I once saw 38 kbps download speeds on my PS4. Quite literally Dial-Up Internet speeds.
When I first got a PS5 and downloaded a game, that was the fastest download I’ve ever seen compared to the PS4
My router has 3 bands. 2.4, 5, and 6ghz.
Some internet routers change to 2.4 from 5 if it doesn’t support 5
Wasn’t there a short recently claiming the reason downloads on ps4 took so long was because it was downloading the whole game again with every update? Now this one’s saying it really was the WiFi
Xfinity got a fire feature for their boxes, I can boost my ps5 to have priority connection over everything else😂
Your WiFi uses up to 3 bands for WiFi 2.4ghz 5.0ghz, and 6.0ghz ideally 6.0ghz is the best bit 5.0ghz is more than effective
Why is this song so nostalgic 😭
