What the heck with these wifi generations?! It took like nearly 10 years to go from Wifi 5 to 6, now they are coming out practically every year now.
I'm still on WiFi 5, lmfao.
This is actually more exciting than all the previous generations!!
0:22 ah yes, the 2012 Toyota Camera. The world's most renowed car
Just when you think you’ve learned enough, IEEE throws in 20 more acronyms to remember
Most places I visit don't even have Wi-Fi 6... 🤷🤦
WiFi 7 was also disappointing because $500+ WiFi 7 routers didn't actually support some of the best features of Wifi 7.. I hope they bring less confusion around this with Wi-Fi 8 too.. Some sort of easy to understand official seal that states it supports all Wifi 8 features would be great..
0:23 I love the Toyota camera from 2012
Can't wait to get it on Black Friday in five years
I'm just sad that this will have a real effect only in like 10+ years when old IoT devices, routers, phones, other devices get replaced with ones that have WiFi8+ chips
We haven't even tried Wi-Fi 6-7 yet
am i hearing things or did Linus say Toyota Camera at 0:22 ?
aaaaaaand I literally just bought my wifi 7 router a week ago
Ironically, the video with the TP-Link Marketing Manager explaining the benefits of WiFi 8 appears to be experiencing substantial lag and stuttering.
It's wild we are getting WiFi 8, before we had SINGLE WiFi 6E device that actually delivers full spec feature wise. WiFi 7 is being handled way worse, to the point you will get way better experience buying decent 6E than any 7.
Honestly, these sound more exciting than speed upgrades that aren’t useable anyway
WiFi 8 is still NOT "full duplex". Have to wait till WiFi 9 release for the full home upgrade.
3:37 cursed piano
IEEE needs to put the hammer down on Wi8 and make it so all routers/devices MUST support all of the technologies to be classified as Wi8, 6-6E-7 have been a mess because manufacturers cut corners on what features they support and its almost impossible to really know without cracking open the manual. This will make W8 truly generational leap and memorable for everyone because everyone will notice the quality improvement
Isn't this the same thing they promised for wifi 7? They even promised that the chanels will have more bandwidth. And he kept on saying "supported devices." So even if the claims are true, widespread adoption is crucial for the network to work.
