If they use VAR, the video should have way better fps lol
FINALLY A REFEREE WITH THE GUTS TO take the initiative and to rationally challenge the machines. This is the reason why they are there, to make things work in a logical manner. What he did, what Amelie Mauresmo did at the French open, calling for human referees, is admirable!
after losing the set, bublik smashed his racquet, his chair and the drinks bucket, injuring his hand, requiring a medical time-out and a second lengthy delay to clean up the shards from the smashed racquet. the overall delay was around 10 minutes and the unpleasant sort of unsportsmanlike behavior sat on top of that - yet he got no penalty. a much more important issue of unfairness.
Good call by the chair umpire to verify. I hope he's consistent enough in all situations.
look at the ball spinning backwards. it was out then touched the racket
The ball is going up, so it's out, and then he touches it.
The opponent was a gentleman and no interest to challenge it. Good call by the umpire to make the obvious call even if the system wasn't calling it
Tennis does not have enough money to have better frame rates.
Great idea to use a phone camera from 2010 as your video check π
That's out then contact
Missing a Frame dam , oppertunity for camera tech
Out. The ball couldn't have hit the racquet first and bounce back at that projectile, so it was from the ground but he picked it less than a second after.
to me seems he touched the ball before the bounce but it's hard to see, they needs a better camera with more frame per seconds
BEST UMPIRE IN ATP
Wow a good umpire what a rarity all praise to you
It clearly bounced before it hits the racket
you can hear a double hit sound, the bounce and the hit, and if you add the ball trajectory it's clear that the ball bounced first
Very clear its already out before he touches it but still good review, you gotta make sure
I do know it's the rule but... The ball was out with or without touching the ball before boucing. So should we really care ? It's not like he touched the ball just above the line...
It's Bublik so they should have given the point to the opponent
