You've reached the end
Mathematically there is not advantage but psychologically it's a setback i guess
The reason why nobody wins is because it’s reserved for the lowest qualified runners
400m WR by lane 8
The outside has pros and cons. The pro is on the outside the track is a straighter line. This allows less of a reduction in power and speed in the turns
The hardest race will always be the one against yourself
Psychologically sure but it is actually the best one mathematically because even though they all have to same length, the 8th lane has the least curve.
actually he ran a 43.03 not a 40.303
I ran my lifetime PR in the 200m in lane 8.
I have this doubt in swimming, you will never see swimmers winning in the lanes close to the walls! 😂
Forget the race, that watch is insane 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤯
Wayde lead from start to end 400m Rio Olympics world record
It's all about mindset
Eric Liddel, 1924 400m Olympic champion, ran from the outside lane. He is reputed to have told his competitors, "I don't expect I'll see you until after the race" :)
It’s actually Lane 9, because most tracks are 9 lanes, but it’s also difference of opinion. Many people find it harder to run curves in lane 1. So sure you can’t see behind you out in 9 but it’s the easiest on the curves.
lane 8 can actually be faster in 200m & 400m tracks due to wider curves. It is harder to turn in tighter curves while maintaining maximum velocity in the inside lanes. The psychological aspect of not being able to easily see your opponents is real. Still lane 8 really isn't inherently disadvantageous. Lane 8 can have fewer winners in some track-sprinting competitions because of the athletes assigned to it rather than the lane causing more challanges.
400m in lane 8 on school sports day is absolutely terrifying especially there is 'us us us' sound behind you and u know ur cooked
In the Olympics, the winner of the race in the previous Olympic Games gets to pick the lanes for the competitors in the final of the event. Kirani James placed Wayde van Niekerk in lane 8 to give himself an advantage as he had picked the best lane and more so because he didn't think Wayde would have the audacity to win the race from that lane.
Van is legent
Sha, Carrie Richardson lane 8 win was major, I just nee this was about her
I ran a 1:00:02 in high school 4x400m from lane 8 (first leg). The start was pretty weird because i had no idea if I started correctly so i had to look back after the starter went off.
