A memorable moment of this great documentary is when Sam Altman is asked how a profit will be made on the vast amounts of money being 'invested' to make AI work. His answer: we'll just ask AI to come up with a plan.
"The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters". Great quote for describing a few years before WWII or our current world.
I wish they had dedicated a lot more time to the idea dropped at the end that this does not have to be our future. It is not written in stone.
This doc is enlightening and terrifying. Artificial intelligence is intelligence without wisdom, intelligence without humanity, and intelligence without thought.
Isn’t it hilarious that these companies get to steal from everyone and then take all the profits without any returns whatsoever to the people and organizations who provided them their data set? Literally the definition of hilarious.
I had no idea that the origins of AI came from someplace so dark.
Most of us are old enough to realize intelligence has nothing to do with goodness.
It’s like observing the minds of sociopaths. Their logic is so strange, almost non-human. I guess this type of pathological reasoning is what explains the nonchalance with which today’s tech leaders seem to regard the probability of human extinction.

Artificial Intelligence is exactly that. Artificial. The people behind it are willing to give up your humanity for money and status and access for them, not us.
This was one of the most important documentaries I have ever watched.
Wish the doc would have talked about Palantir, Peter Thiel, Nick Land and accelerationism and how his ideas have influenced these people. And JD Vances role in it.
