Forever dominated BlizzCon, while The Last Titan barely got a look in. With Blizzard's new MMO getting the attention and new tech, it's easy to see why Retail players feel sidelined. But could Forever actually threaten modern WoW? Let's look at the fear of resources being pulled, Blizzard's plans beyond The Last Titan, and what running two MMOs could mean for both games. I can only speak for myself, but I have grown tired of Retail WoW's seasonal gameplay and story that doesn't seem to have aged with its playerbase that is now in their 30s on average. Forever promises to be more of an RPG -- a place to be immersed in.
Because retail has been bloated with junk for years now!!
Arthas is still alive and is the Lich King in Forever? Yep thats my new lore. Retail can kick the bucket
I fear blizz lead wont recognize why players want forever, and make a mess out of it again 😢
Im tired of starting at square one every few months. It's just... exhausting. Forever is basically a reboot, and people have more hope for that. Perhaps that's delusional, but hope is all we got at this point because the current product isn't doing it for us.
My wife and I played through the main story of midnight, but after that we just couldn't be bothered. We ended up doing a world tour instead, doing all dungeons and raids in order. Most fun we've had in the game for ages.
I think Retail could learn a thing or two from Forever. They should've learned it from Classic relaunch but that didn't happen in my humble opinion.
The fact that the Forever beta absolutely trounced the last three expansion viewers combined and even said the beta player base was beyond what they thought it would be likening it to vanilla release, I think they have their answer of where their money and focus should go
'Nobody's talking about Retail anymore' Good. Ever since Steve Dasnoozer crapped all over the lore back in shadowlands and killed off one of the most important figures in WoW history and Blizzard made retail into a ARPG I could care less. Forever is canon to me now and will be for many years to come, can't wait.
Even as a huge MMO fan with hundreds and hundreds of hours in stuff like FFXIV, ESO and Destiny, I would never even consider playing WOW retail. It just feels out of control. No core tenets are values. Just a crazy ass product. Forever on the other hand. That I could play.
Retail has the same, tired seasonal model that ive hated for over a decade. Every patch makes your gear obsolete and the catch-up mechanics makes doing any patch after initial launch to the final not needed.
Retail has become a checklist. Classic/Forever feels more like a game.
The "third pillar" is hilarious to me. I doubt retail will die with Forever, but Classic certainly will. It might be the third pillar for a few months but I've got my money on a two pillar system with Forever and Retail. Wrath Anniversary MIGHT still happen, but that'll be the last of it (and I doubt it'll have a massive population)
What I hate in the retail: 1. FOMO elements, like all the weekly and world quest, mandatory tasks, weekly knowledge 2. M+ because of the toxic performance oriented players I hope those people stays in the retail.
It's so over phase, tomorrow the we're so back video.
It'll probably be like OSRS that has more players than the current Runescape 3. The company finally caves to what the players truly want because they see its the best way to get the most people.
The real WoW died at the end of WoTLK.
You've really got me on farm with these wow forever vids and i haven't even played wow in like a year or 2
I haven’t played wow really much at all. Forever has my attention, but I can’t imagine jumping into retail now. It’s too bloated and I’ve missed way too much content to meaningfully engage or care about the world and story. Forever feels like a complete game, not.. a live service I’m 20 years too late to.
The reality is that every retail expansion didn't offer much. 5 or so new zones, rep grinds, skill grinds, over-complicated cooking and creating recipies, leveling grinds doing the same five style kill/collect quests, blow through the zones, wait for patches that gave us a tiny isle to do more grinding and add mounts as rewards to most everything to keep them playing. It's old, tired, and boring. We'd need massive lands like EK every expansion and no leveling past 60 EVER, and dial down being 'the chosen one' crap. Players also need to slow TF down. They 🐕 about no content and being bored yet they speed through it all as fast as they can. They shoot themselves in the foot and blame blizz. But that would be difficult to do every two years. They have to change their strategy up big to pull that off.
