lol I’m struggling with this! My kids are school age now and they fully understand Urdu but I’m born and raised in the US and my husband is from Pakistan. We both speak Urdu but for some reason the kids can’t speak it. They do understand everything though, just can’t respond 😂

your Urdu got better than before and try watch Pakistani drama as it might help you but overall it got better and you will get there

My kids understand Dari and can say words. My husband is slacking on the Urdu game lol I feel bad they won’t be able to communicate with their dads side. And no I don’t speak Urdu 😂

Salaams, I’m Afghan Farsi speaking and my husband is Pakistani Punjabi but can’t speak Urdu or Punjabi but I totally understand Urdu … our three kids only speak English …. I think you could if your parents and his parents spend a lot of time talking to him just in their languages … otherwise in your home you both speak English to each other therefore your child will only speak English …. Btw I have to translate Urdu to my husband lol! 😂

Children spending time with their grandparents is such a big blessing as they learn their native language from grandparents! My brothers learnt Farsi because my parents took my brothers Afghanistan and left them there for 3 years. And when they came back their Farsi vocabulary was improved soooo much compared to before!
