That's exactly why some newer cars does not let you rev it past the 2.5k unless it's moving at some speed. It's basically a foolproof design

How are y'all just blowing engines like that? My 98 Ford 4.0 ohv gets banged off the limiter daily at 230k miles, for the last 3 years almost every weekend it gets held at wide open throttle in 3rd gear for an hour straight while hauling my dirtbike into the mountains, when I'm not hauling my dirtbike I'm jumping the truck and banging it off rock or doing donuts. Never had an engine issue

Sounded like a hose burst tbh. Could be a coplant line or even oil cooler..they usually blow but start on fire after they do cuz engine oil will ignite easier than gasoline on a hot engine..
