TLDR ; Nvidia will continue to ream its regular common consumer base.
I'm still surprised that there isn't a class action lawsuit over that flammable connector
Old Nvidia: "We *_LOVE_* gamers!" New Nvidia: "Gamers? Who are they? Are they the 'little people' who will be subscribing to our AI data centers?"
I feel lucky I got a 3090 for $550 before their used prices sky rocketed.
so are they going to continue to show us how great DLSS is at NVIDIA tech demos on 5090s?
The 7900xtx was a great pick ojn my part... no power problems whatsoever :D
Nah, sold it. I don't need zero warranty and a fire risk in my home. I'd rather have the 300% profit I got when I sold mine
Imagine ignoring the customers and fanbase that made you number one. This is why I always tell people, "Be only a fanboy of your pocket, never of a company"
To solve this problem I have hired a Warhammer 40k Tech Priest to pray and rub sacred unguent on my 5090 every day to make sure it can last until the GPU market can return to some kind of normal. Praise the Omnissiah!
Thermal Grizzly has a voltage+heat monitor attachment that looks more and more necessay. I got this thing to last. Last longer than Titanic at the box office at least!
Sounds like an attempt to scare 5090 owners to sell their cards now. If you actually get the current market price that may seem like a pretty good idea. Especially if you don’t plan on gaming for at least the next 5 years
Stuffs too expensive anyways. Just got a laptop with a 5070 and that was high enough.
bought a wireview pro II for mine, better safe than sorry, imo was already going a year strong without it, but with the possibility of being able to replace it becoming more unlikely, I decided to add the layer of protection to it, that is the wireview pro II, gg
I foresee a lot of lawsuits coming forward
Ummm I got warranty with microcenter and they will upgrade the 5090 is they don’t have a replacement so I’m good
I didn't think I'd won a prize when I found out that the 5090 was being discontinued. I thought about whether I should sell it. Even before this news, I could have sold this thing for way more than double what I paid for it.
Last year I had to RMA my 5090 three times. Just hoping it doesn’t go for a fourth.
Spend you life saving on OVERPRICED JUNK THAT THEY REFUSE TO COVER. Asus, nvida and many more are going down the lonely road of no sales.
As one of Nvidia's longtime customers and someone who shelled out for an msrp 5090, I feel less than appreciated. It would be nice to feel as if the 4 year extended warranty on my aorus master had some meaning because it featured prominently in my decision to buy. In any case, I suspect that buddy at northwestrepair is going to be fixing a lot of 5090 connectors in the coming months and years.
I bought a Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro 2 for my 5090 and I am on a regular 12v2x6 cable inspection schedule. I just replaced my cable with an OEM be quiet! cable that goes with my PSU because I noticed slight plastic deformation on one of the pins. I'm going to baby this card as much as possible. Though I've seen Alex at NorthridgeFix, fix cards that should be ewaste, so that's my fallback if something happens.
