Omg Ali trying on the shorts was the comedic gold 😂
Praying Atlas makes a speedy recovery! 🤕
As a fellow HSP and horse owner It absolutely is normal to feel what your horse is feeling. Horses are so amazing, the fact that women’s heart rates sync with horses when ridden is just one part of the magic. But totally normal to feel for atlas, you’re such a great owner!
I think Lydia the best thing for you and your horse is let the old boy retire in his field. He deserves that his done his work and you will feel calm abd Atlas will have a good rest. You will get more pleasure going down to see him with a few carrots and seeing him happy. Hope you dont mind my advice it comes from a good place 🎉
Lydia, The horse in my photo icon was my beautiful arabian and my dearest horse I've ever known. His name was Vertigo (But I called him Honeygo) He had been an Arabian National Champion western show horse and a stallion all his life before I was able to buy him. Trainers were having a lot of trouble with him and were even afraid to ride him anymore. As a result, they gelded him and then about a year later, they sold him to me. When I brought him home, all he ever knew was solitude and being 95% of his time in a stable. So he wasn't used to riding on a trail or being with other horses. The first thing I did was get him outside for 8 hours a day and get him a sweet mare named Emma as a companion. He became the happiest, most loving horse I've ever seen! He was an absolute saint with me. He trusted my judgement and knew that I would ask fairly, wisely and confidently. We had that trust bond that we all seek to have with our horse. I was like a second pair of eyes and ears for him and he knew it. Therefore, he knew he could let me know his concerns and that I would listen. That being said, when we would ride out on the trail, he enjoyed it and could relax with confidence because I was his "leader". However, when he turned 15 he started to show subtle signs that he wasn't comfortable being tacked up and ridden anymore. He didn't do anything crazy at all but I could feel a kind of tension in him. It was like he was riding out with me for me and he wasn't "into it" anymore. The riding part of it was a peaceful duty and not a joy for him anymore. There was no event or big warning sign. He didn't spook or bolt but I could feel it. He was just trying to please me. You know, when your horse is with you and loves you but he's not enjoying the outing like he used to, you begin to ask yourself "what can I do for my friend" I knew he was letting me know that his role in my life as a horse I rode was over. I stopped riding him after that and just spent time with him doing lovely things with him. Some days, I would just spend time in his pasture with him while I read a book. Some days, My husband and I would have a glass of prosecco hanging out with him watching the sunset. Sometimes, our children and grandchildren would go out for a pasture walk with the dogs and him. Sometimes, we walked him around while our grandchildren rode him at a walk bareback. Sometimes I just walked with him or had a spa grooming time with him. So I still enjoyed him even though I knew he was retired from being a riding horse. About 6 months later, he colicked badly one morning and we took him to the vet hospital. Upon surgery they discovered he had cancer all in his small intestine. Thats why he became uncomfortable when girthed and being ridden. His passing was sudden and devastating emotionally for me. However, My whole family and I were thankful for all the relaxed, sweet, bonding memories we made during the "non riding" days. We took a lot of beautiful pictures of him during that time. So I was thankful that he was a patient enough horse with me that he let me know what he needed. He gave me some of the most treasured memories of my life. And in turn, I believe I gave him joy in return. Lydia, whatever happens with your beautiful horse Atlas over time, may you enjoy your time with him. If here is a solution to be found during this season, I hope you are blessed with it. And as Atlas ages, may you establish cherished memories of him and treasure the beauty of that special connection we have with horses during all the phases.
Was rewatching one of your older videos and the posture change is crazy.. that vortalex posture corrector genuinely transformed your whole frame 😭
Sorry to hear about your horse but your on it and it sounds positive even if he retires he is going to be more comfortable so don't be sad sweet girl you're doing everything for him.
Your sweet boy is most likely telling you he is ready for retirement anyway. A life filled with loves, apples, and grassy pastures. Just my heartfelt feeling from someone who has been where you are a couple of times. ❤
Wishing Atlas a speedy recovery
Can absolutely feel everything my dog feels. I can see every change in his demeanour in split seconds. What you’re describing sounds very normal for a good animal owner who knows their animal and cares.
My heart goes out to you and Atlas. As a previous equestrian, I feel your pain. Sending you a hug. 🥰🌱🌱
Hope you’re feeling better ! ❤
Omg! Ali is so funny with those short 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh my atlas is a old boy , retire him now and let him live the rest of his days with you looking after him well . They do get so connected with their owners .
Lydia,Ali looked amazing! (And you did in all your outfits). Good for him getting into the spirit! Also you mentioned Amelia … I watched her vlog last weekend and she mentioned your Evergreen book, and read a passage from it. Such a lovely moment. (It was on grief, but she found your words comforting). So nice to see you all recognizing each other in your vlogs.
I’m at the part where Ali is trying to stretch out his shorts and I am DYING 🤣 Looks like actual footage of when I put on freshly washed leggings or jeans 😂 Lydia’s commentary is sending me
The way you "feel" Altas's discomfort is not unusual, in my experience. I don't have a horse but I've felt this with my dogs. We know our animals so well and are so connected we just know when something isn't right.
Watch a vintage series of "Are you being served, for a lighthearted smile at the lederhosen skit. Retail staff had to comply to management's whims.
Ali stretching out the lederhosen! 😂😅
I'm 21 minutes in...this is hilarious...🤣
