From new parks and habitats to indoor attractions, public spaces and a resort, see how changing ideas about animals and visitor experience are reshaping the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Mandai’s wildlife parks have evolved over the decades, shaped by changing ideas about animal welfare, behaviour and how people experience wildlife. This episode traces that transformation, from the early open-concept zoo to new parks, more naturalistic habitats, indoor attractions, public spaces and a resort that are changing how visitors experience Mandai. Through the people involved in planning, designing and caring for the parks, we see how animal needs and visitor experience continue to influence what Mandai is becoming, while building on more than 50 years of history. In partnership with Mandai Wildlife Group. 1 thing I enjoy about Singapore zoo is most exhibit arent behind cage or thick glass. This way it feels more natural and also better for people who like to take photographs. Though the only bad thing is animal will be further from viewer compare to having thick glass where there is chance they can walk and stand infront of you. But open concept is still by far the best experience. Perhaps Singapore can make a mini safari zoo.. which many country also have. . where 1 can sit in a 4X4 jeep like as if in a Safari national park in Africa. That would be cool.
Singapore did everything right for the world to wonder and be awed!
heres a crazeeee idea: 1: Limit Singapore zoo to only house animals native to S.E.Asia. More practical from a wildlife rehab perspective. 2: Turn Pulau Ubin (or a similar Island) into a South East Asia Wildlife National Park where visitors can go on safaris (jeep or treetop walkways). The animals are free to roam and yes they may even eat others (Tiger eating a deer) but populate it so its in a natural balance of nature. Perfect way to save what was once native to Singapore.
An engaging and informative narration showcasing Mandai Zoo’s diverse habitats, the dedicated staff, and their amazing interactions with the wildlife. Really appreciate the hard work, dedication, and passion that go into making this wonderful zoo what it is today. Hoping that the haze will not affect the health and well-being of the animals under their care.
I'll visit the Zoo to get inspiration for Planet Zoo 2
Whereas in some SEA countries, primitive forests are cut down to make way for infrastructures of pure cement.
World leaders should really learn from Singapore if they want a future for the next generation.
:18 Singapore already in the future
Indonesia have this and the greed corporations work together with corrupts official burn down the forest include the wildlife. I hope and wish international organization and the countries affected by the fire smoke come and sue our government, but sadly, no one came...😢😢
Animals are split among 4 parts and sections of the zoo with different entrance and ticket..to see all you need to pay for 4 different entrance .. It's really cost too much especially for Singaporean bringing family or revisiting Example ..Taiwan zoo ..only cost around $3...for a single entrance which you can see all animals include 🐼 Panda.
Such a nice, nice documentary! 🥹 Got me teary-eyed at some parts. Kudos to everyone involved from Mandai! We can only imagine the amount of planning, hard work and stress that went on behind the scenes. The video alone doesn’t show just how much effort went into it. ♥️
How, you ask? With a lot of money from Temasek of course!
