Before 2005, every PC controller worked differently, so games often had no idea which of your buttons was which. Then Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 along with a new way for Windows to talk to controllers, called XInput. It only understood one layout: the 360’s two sticks, two triggers and A, B, X and Y. That made life easy for developers, because they could write controller support once and have it work, so they switched. Microsoft stopped developing the older, more flexible system the following year. It never went away completely, which is why racing wheels and flight sticks with dozens of buttons still use it. But for everything else, working in games meant taking the Xbox shape. That’s why cheap pads have a switch marked X, and why Steam hands your PlayStation controller to most games dressed up as an Xbox pad. The game never finds out. #minecraft #gaming #technology #bytetalk #xbox #pcgaming #viralshorts #shorts

I mean that makes sense, Xbox and windows pc is own by Microsoft
Ah yes, I remember when the game asked me to press button 12, 4 and 6 in quick succesion and I would have no fucking clue what that was.
This is called xInput right
Now i know why the big button in the middle of ps5 controller doesnt work
i mean yeah. it’s arguably the best controller layout.
Not only do they switch the buttons, some games require me to press different buttons on different platforms so I’ll have to press triangle instead of x and vice versa
What music is that? It feels nostalgic
Yeah I'm glad some of these modern games starting to support dualsense on pc
I have Scuff Envision, I was curious why my PC called it X360 controller. I was little worried they were using like the 360 circuit board for it or something. But obviously It didn’t add up because it’s way too responsive and has the layout of a PS5 controller.
I hate this because I do not own a single xbox controller nor do I want one, yet it still gives me the dumb layout even tho it knows Im on a ps5 controller
Objectivly wrong. Theres diffrent kinds of inputs like Dinput and Xinput
This is outdated, different formats exist and are used
And windows ≠ pc
Well yes and no
This guy's blatantly lying you have to run different programs to run an Xbox 360 controller and in my experience the Xbox controllers are the worst compatibility to a PC It goes through windows Xbox Accessories app and then Steam input it messes up your button mapping I bought the Elite controller and it's unusable Sony's controllers are much easier to use And by the way both these companies suck steam wins every time and Windows sucks No one wants to troubleshoot everything a computer is not for everyone
Players did this back in the day in build tournaments, like ch2 ch3 ch4. There were always boxes full of meds and lootnin storm. Definitely gonna be meta in zero builds as well
My friend kept switching my control layouts in fighting games so that he could stand a chance
Thats why tf2 says "Xbox 360 layout" in the console when I have gameplay mode on
I give the parkour guy a 3/10. Too much hesitation.
I still use a 360 controller on PC! Due to 360 hardware becoming retro and rising in price, I bought and fixed a small army of 360 controllers that'll last me until I'm finally tired of gaming!
