This wasn't scripted. Tom was supposed to walk to the computer and start typing, but the director enjoyed his "the floor is lava" stunts so much that he left it in the movie
What the edit cut out here is that Tom put the coins in his shoes to add ballast so he could be in balance on the wire rig.
