This cygnet was wandering on the A1 and the traffic had stalled. The first caller noticed the young swan walk into the verge as the traffic continued and so we were called. I went out immediately hoping it was sitting patiently. The Police rocketed passed me as I was almost there so that made it easier. Using such a large net means such attempts are almost always perfectly executed and the bird is contained without dramas. Retrieving young swans will be a daily occurrence for a month or more as they begin to learn how to fly....and hopefully - where to land! Fortunately this one wasn't hurt - you could say he was A1 (sorry) and so I took him to the colony in St Neots.
