My experience like this happened after college when I Joined the US Army. I Joined the US army as an E4 (College), and flew from California to Maryland, then my orders were wrong, took a red eye flight back to California, and my Company then had me back on a flight to Maryland. I was beyond jet lagged, and mind-f*cked. I was at TRADOC for a reclass and as I was walking I was zoned out, all the privates were saluting as an officer was walking by. The Officer walked by me and I didn't pay attention and he stopped me asking why I didn't salute him, then he asked me why I'm not standing at attention. Another Soldier at attention says "SPC stand at attention and salue", and I just ignored them and moved along to where I needed to be. Well, I then show up to the Company I am assigned to while at TRADOC, standing in the back with all the Prior Service Members as all the Privates are up front. And it's that O-4 from the prior day. He musters everyone up front, talks about how he came across another soldier from a different company he failed to salute an officer, and says we are the best company and have best absolute to the standards. I know he saw me too. Later that week I'm at the School House and he comes up to me and another soldier, and says "Hello Specialist, I remember you, how's everything going? I reviewed your itinerary to get here, you must have been exhausted" and he laughs. He and I and the SGT I would hang out with would always talk as the O-4 would kinda vent about what it was like to be an Officer. I never knew their was a feud as the West Point Officers look down on other Officers than went to State Colleges.
