I’d like to mention something that I feel like you’ve missed: Alexandra GREATLY matches with Mrs. Pigeon. Think about it, a woman who puts her child through pain for her own benefit, as a sacrifice. We also have the bath scene mirror, and we never had a parallel for her. Just something to consider.

I love that this was basically a Harvey origin story. We got one for Mr. Crow and Mr. Owl, it only seemed fitting for Harvey to get one. But now it makes me wonder: will we get the origin of the lake itself in a future game? Also: that’s twice Harvey was basically forcibly transformed to save his life. This is technically the first time, but the second time was done by Mr. Owl after Harvey got mauled by a bunch of corrupted souls (thus giving us his animal form). I get the feeling more of Harvey’s story will reveal itself soon.

I might have missed it if already mentioned, but in the final dinner scene Alexandra's dress is green, Aldous's waistcoat is blue, and William's suit is red, which mirrors the colors of the elixir bottles from Paradox. Just an interesting observation.

This game makes me want an interaction between Harvey (or I guess Mr.Parrot) and Mr.Crow, maybe shortly after Aldus drank the elixir and started to serve the lake alongside Harvey, trying to still be like "Servant, do X for me" and Harvey (half just as a reminder, half as a crashout for the events of Servant) being like "no Aldus, we are BOTH servants now, do it yourself". Or more generally, I'd love to see Harvey (in humanoid form) as a non playable character just for seeing his thoughts a little bit better

I could see that Alexandra becomes obscured not as a part of some plan, but rather as a concequence of her plotting. She died being seen as "Rotten" by her brothers, who likely stopped talking about her to others afterward, and her son needing to be saved from her by Kate and Harvey. It's most likely that wherever he ended up, no one ever told him about his duplicitous mother, and, with her now only existing as a gowned shadow, is like she never existed.

I do actually think it makes sense that Alexandra is only being introduced here, even if she was never explicitly mentioned. The only reason James inherits the manor is because both his uncles are ""dead"" and he's the only living heir. He's not implied to be William or Aldous' son, so there *had* to be a dead Vanderboom sibling to be his parent while also not being around to inherit the estate ahead of him. Also, one of the things I really like about Alexandra's characterization is that, even though you can argue she's one of the more outright evil/malicious/selfish characters in the series so far, the source of that negativity is very sympathetic. Imagine hearing from your own mother at a young age that the greatest thing you will ever achieve, almost in spite of your talents or potential, and the ultimate purpose of your existence is to bear a child and then disappear into obscurity as your male siblings go on to their great destinies with your son. Factor on top of that the way women were treated in the time period the game is set in, and you can see how Alexandra could foster a rage within her and a resentment of her destiny and family. Doesn't excuse the attempted baby murder, but that's what makes her interesting. She really was a hair's breadth away from dooming her son (and possibly the future of her family) because of how desperately she wanted any other lot in life. She was entirely ready to betray her family to make some kind of future for herself, even if it meant throwing away her child's soul too. And in regards to James, it's also interesting that in such a short amount of time we get so much of her seemingly conflicted feelings on her son: when she arrives, James is sitting in a basket _outside_ of the carriage in a pretty precarious position, she'll be rocking him to sleep with what seems like genuine affection mixed with sinister scheming, but given the opportunity she'll leave him to the help to get away from him, and capping all that off with her seeing their destinies as intertwined but very much insisting that he is the tool in her destiny, not the other way around. In this single game, and even with screen time split between all the other characters, the devs really developed such a compelling character in her series debut that it kinda surprises me how fast Alexandra shot up the ranks to be one of my favourite Rusty Lake characters. Also also, my pet theory is that Kate's brother is Mr. Bat.
