Paris is burning, Trump is back to kissing Putin’s ass, and there’s a new war to blame for bank-breaking gas prices. Jon Stewart examines the headlines, including the protests that literally set Paris on fire while President Macron enjoyed a Celine Dion concert. Plus, American allegiances in the Russia-Ukraine war are called into question as Trump signs a diesel deal worth billions with Putin, and Jon gets some key players on the phone to work out why Ukraine is having trouble accessing Elon Musk’s Starlink cell service. #DailyShow #Paris #Russia #Starlink 0:00 - Jon Stewart's TDS Welcome 0:25 - JD Vance Answers Immigration Question at Town Hall 3:14 - Riots Explode Throughout Paris, France 4:12 - Vance Blames Paris Riots on Immigrants 6:50 - French President Macron Goes to Celine Dion Concert Amid Fires 10:53 - Trump Strikes Energy Deal with Ukraine and Russia 12:33 - Trump Waves Sanctions on Russia Deal 17:36 - Jon Stewart Calls Starlink for Answers on Ukraine Subscribe to The Daily Show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwWhs_6x42TyRM4Wstoq8HA/?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Daily Show: Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDailyShow Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedailyshow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailyshow Stream full episodes of The Daily Show on Paramount+: http://www.paramountplus.com/thedailyshow Follow Comedy Central: Twitter: https://twitter.com/ComedyCentral Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ComedyCentral Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/comedycentral About The Daily Show: Jon Stewart and The Best F**king News Team host The Daily Show, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning program analyzing the biggest stories in news, politics, and culture through a sharp, satirical lens. "Mein Bad" in german translates to "my bathroom"
Just to be clear, Germany is paying for Starlink service for Ukraine. So it is not charity by USA, it is a breach of a contract.
The French are rioting over education reform and cost of living. JD Vance has no interest in either of these things, so it's understandable he was confused.
The woman casually jogging past a literal burning barricade is peak French energy 😁
This is becoming more common, and I am seriously concerned that they will pull everything out; free speech is being stifled right in front of our eyes!!!
One simple explanation you almost never hear in the media when they cover the French protests: Why is the public budget suddenly broken? France's national audit office proved that tax cuts since 2018 (abolishing the wealth tax, flat tax on dividends, corporate tax cuts, and giant inheritance loopholes for billionaire families) cost the state over 60 billion euros every single year. Now the government turns around and tells working people there is no money left for education, public infrastructure, or cost-of-living relief, demanding 60 billion in painful spending cuts. You cannot hand 60 billion to the ultra-rich, send the invoice to the working class and their kids' schools, and then act surprised when Paris is on fire.
Hey Frenchman here. Just clarifying one thing : the reason*S* we are revolting are many folds and not only because "fuel prices" or even more ridiculous "immigration" pretexts. The first group to revolt were highschooler and you cannot legally drive before 18 years old so won't really protest against fuel prices. Mostly it is because of mismanagement, arrogance from the government, police brutality and yes, general costs of living. We just refuse to take these things lying down.
French here: it's not just for high gas prices we're demonstrating (it all starting with high schoolers asking the government for funding for education). The contempt and violence with which these demands have been met have led university students and workers to join them, adding their own demands. Anger is coming from all different corners and the only response so far is ramping up on surveillance and repression, aka a fascist state in the making
"We're so angry about this war we might VOTE!" Word! (as the kids used to say)
What did the corporate censors demand be removed?
Two weeks to go, my dear Americans!!! Please, vote. The whole world is counting on you.
This video was removed after one hour and 250k views! How strange. So glad it’s back up!
Macron was not being quite honest in his address. What really started the protests in France was the poor conditions of their higher education system, cost of living and fuel prices just exacerbated that, and what really has lit the fire is the anger over police violence.
Trump and Musk are full blown traitors to America and they should be fully held responsible for their crimes
The second time, I'm laughing even more.
Hey, quick update from France: people didn't riot just because of high gas and groceries prices. They rioted because high school students peacefully protested to get decent education conditions (enough teachers, high schools that are not crumbling in ruins, chairs, basic material) and the only response from the government was to send heavily armoured cops to beat them up. Them being kids.
Why was the earlier version of this video taken down?
Them pressuring Ukraine is disgusting. Them restricting their access to starshield and starlink and holding already purchased defense systems got civilians killed. Actually disgusting
America's golden age was when it was the most socialist under the carried economic policies of FDR... high taxes on corporations and the wealthy class, and low taxes on the working class created a society that was extremely affordable across the board and extremely productive with tremendous upward mobility for the vast majority of Americans! 🙂👍
Everyone please vote, the rest of us in the world need our sanity back.
