To fully understand the first folding iPhone, we need to revisit another first from 16 years ago. No, not the 2007 iPhone keynote: I’m talking about the iPad debut from January 2010. It was buzzy and exciting in its own way, but even then, people seemed to grasp that it wasn’t the sea change the iPhone had represented. Partially that’s because at launch it was essentially what its critics called it – an oversized iPod Touch. Its main advantage was that it was … big. But people vastly underestimated how big a difference that could make. All these years later, the iPhone Duo doubles down on the same bet by offering a larger display – only when you need it. That simple promise has been enough to sell foldables to a small audience for the better part of a decade, but always constrained by the critical caveat that if you want your phone to fold, you need to switch to Android. Well, not anymore. I'm MrMobile and I've spent a week with the iPhone Duo. During that time, I’ve seen all the promise – and pitfalls – of a product that lives or dies on the same thing that made the iPad: the apps. [ABOUT MRMOBILE'S IPHONE DUO REVIEW] MrMobile's iPhone Duo Review was produced after a week with an iPhone Duo review sample provided by Apple. Tested on T-Mobile in New York City on a review account also provided by Apple. MrMobile does not offer manufacturers the opportunity to preview, edit or approve content before publication. Neither Apple nor any other manufacturer provided compensation in exchange for this coverage. Kudos to listening to all feedback concerning the sponsorship. This is why you’re the most trusted reviewer on the platform.
MrMobile is the pre-eminent authority on foldable reviews
Lots of respect for the response to sponsorship feedback. I thought the nature of your questions to the guys at Apple in your last video was great as well, and sets you apart from others in the space. Nice work.
You sacrificed the sponsor slot on what could easily be your most viewed video of the year... To tell your audience that you have listened, and taken action in regards to a previous sponsor not being up to standard. Bra-freaking-vo!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 THIS is why you are our most trusted reviewer!! You respect your audience, and we respect you. Stay mobile, Mr.Mobile
now THIS review is the one i've been waiting for the MOST :D + Also MASSIVE props on the sponsor segment. Most creators just chase the bag, but you have shown that you have genuine respect for the audience, and I'm happy to see it :)
As someone who left a comment a few months ago about a sponsor, I feel compelled to at the very least give you the same engagement for not following through with (probably) that sponsor. Thanks!
This is truly the only review that matters at this time. There is truly no one better equipped to do this review, I'm confident in that.
Thank you for taking the feedback into consideration regarding the sponsorship. In these…interesting times, especially in the States, it’s hard to turn down money as a creator, but having some integrity and an ability to listen to your audience is priceless. Thank you for listening to us, and for really taking the feedback to heart and making the right call.
Good on you for dropping casetify. A man of integrity. Your fellow creators could learn from you.
19:16 Genuinely appreciate you being open about that sponsorship. I was surprised when I saw them on that video recently, but you listening to us goes a long way, and it should mean something that we were all surprised by that sponsorship because of how much respect we have for you. Kudos for listening.
Huge W on the sponsorship - left a sour taste in my mouth at the time but really glad to see you addressed it
Watching this on my Fold 8 lol
The app scaling situation was the same when we moved from the iPhone 7/8 to the X. I imagine over time this will get much better (and handily, the side effect could be that Android apps are also more optimised on foldables) Great review, yours was the one I was waiting for
Thank you being one of the only creators to mention the fun whimsy apps that have been flooding my social timelines, and also understanding that apps will catch up soon... So many of these reviews saying "apps look awful, it will take 6 months and more" your optimistic take on this fun first gen product has been refreshing, so thank you. Excited for mine to arrive on Friday!
Damn teasing us with the clicks communicator? I don't care about the Duo anymore😍
Loves the Clicks Communicator appearance
That 2 stage fingerprint reader is honestly a nonstarter, I hope they tweak that in settings. Looks like we had faster TouchID a decade ago—yikes!
Great video! Also, much respect for handling of the sponsorship part. Your transparency at the end of each video has always made me appreciate your channel. This deserves another whole load of respect. Especially for a video in that will have a guaranteed massive viewer count like this is admirable. Also appreciate the community for speaking up btw. means that people care and trust in your integrity!! u should pride yourself on building such an environment!
This was such a fun review. Thank you for the update on sponsorships, I did not know there was a backlash to a sponsor. However, I think what I love is the care to explain to your community. Thank you for helping us navigate these strange new worlds and to boldly go where many of us have not or cannot.
This is just another comment commending you for your integrity and straightforwardness regarding *that* sponsor. Respect, Mr. Fisher
