Basically, me llamo means “i am called”. It’s not usual to say “my name is” in spanish, so you usually say something like “me llamo brian” aka “i am callled brian”. saying me llamo es brian is like saying i am called is brian

So basically he was saying the same thing, and I’d like to clear up why this blew up the way it did. Here’s what I was trying to show. “Me llamo Brian” means “my name is Brian.” “Mi nombre es Brian” also means “my name is Brian.” And “soy Brian” means “I’m Brian.” Three different ways to say the same thing, and that was the whole point of my original comment. Just giving a heads up for those who wanna know. Now the part I got wrong. When I typed it out, I wrote “me llamo es Brian,” which mashes two of those phrases together. “Me llamo” already has the verb built in, so the “es” doesn’t belong. That’s a fair catch by the people who pointed it out, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. It’s a mix-up I made while typing, and it doesn’t change the main point that Spanish gives you plenty of correct options for saying “my name is ___,” whether you’re a boy or a girl. Stop trying to create a war. I was never trying to start an argument. I was showing different ways to say the same thing, and the one slip I made has been acknowledged. Everyone in this thread clearly cares about getting Spanish right, which is a good thing, so let’s keep it that way. Don’t take my word for it, either. You have a super insanely powerful device in your pocket, so look up “me llamo,” “mi nombre es,” and “soy” and see for yourself that all three are correct. If you find something I’ve missed, tell me and I’ll happily fix it.

Fun fact: me llamo doesn’t actually mean my name is, it means “I call myself” and that’s why the es isn’t necessary.
