Well, this is a video I never quite imagined I'd be making. For years, this little house has been the heart of my life β my home with Mum, the backdrop to so many of my videos, and the place where so many of the memories that you have shared with me have been made. It is a home I adore more than I can properly put into words. And yet, completely unexpectedly, we may have found another. In this rather emotional video, I am telling you the story of how Mum happened upon a period property online, how Jack and I went along to a viewing at possibly the worst possible time, and how we somehow ended up falling completely head over heels for a house that I had never imagined we'd find. It has the old-fashioned character I've always dreamed of, space for Jack and his beloved 1989 BMW E30, room for us both to work, a garden for my six pigeons and their aviary, and β most importantly β the potential to become somewhere we could build a life together. But this isn't simply a house-hunting story. It is also a very personal conversation about change, growing up, leaving the comfort of what we know, and the strange grief that can come from contemplating the end of a chapter that you aren't actually ready to end. Because the truth is, I'm not trying to escape my life here. I am incredibly happy. I love living with my mum. I love this house. I love our routines, our evenings together, our little kitchen, Betty, my pigeons, making videos here and all of the memories we have created within these walls. The thought of changing any of that has filled me with far more emotion than I expected. But I also love Jack, and I want to know what a life of our own might look like. And perhaps growing up doesn't always mean leaving something behind. Perhaps sometimes it means finding a way to carry the things you love with you. Whatever happens with this particular house, I want you to know that this home β *our* home β isn't going anywhere. Mum and I have talked about what the future could look like, and I will always have my bedroom here, always have a place to come home to, and hopefully continue making many, many more videos here. So this isn't goodbye. It's simply me standing on the doorstep of a possible new adventure, feeling excited, terrified, sentimental, hopeful and perhaps slightly overwhelmed by all of it! We haven't even made a formal offer yet, and there is absolutely no guarantee that this will become our home. But it is the first house I've seen in a very long time that made me feel that extraordinary little flutter of *this could be it.* And if it does become ours, I cannot wait to show you what we might do with it. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new chapter for the Dolls House. But whatever happens, I hope we never lose sight of the most important thing of all: you can build something new without losing the feeling of home. Thank you for being here, for loving this little house as much as you do, and for coming along with me wherever life takes us. β€οΈ Here's to new adventures, old houses, and never forgetting where you came from. a house is a building - a home is where the heart is; and, your mother will always be there for you. take the leap! life is for living, dear. (but, I do love your sentimentality β€)
βWe cannot stay home all our lives, we must present ourselves to the world and we must look upon it as an adventure.β β Beatrix Potter
The happiest we can be as parents is to see our children spread their wings and fly
Go for it...theres never a perfect time...
Praying that you and Jack get your dream home!
I speak as a mother. The greatest joy for us mom's is seeing our little birds find their mates and build their own happy little nests. That is always our hope and our dream. She wants this for you. Go and be happy. β€
You speak so well π₯° I moved away from home 12 years ago and I never say βIβm going to my dadβs houseβ.. I always say βIβm going homeβ and I feel like it. Getting this new home doesnβt mean your current home stops being home. Having two homes is twice as joyful! Donβt worry! β€
I wish you ALL the best with this potential life change.
I can't imagine loving my mom so much that I'm in tears moving out. I'm so jealous but I'm def sending you all the best wishes for this change
Just like a beautiful oak tree you are not losing your home, you are simply growing another branch. You have strong roots and foundation π‘ πͺΎπͺΎ
What you have with your mom is incredibly special. β₯οΈ
Fortune favours the brave! At some point you need to just do it.
Girl go put an offer in!! I am so excited for you guys!
Moved out of my parents' home at 40 when I married. I felt it would be a huge transition, but it was much easier than I anticipated. Having a beautiful 1940s home to move into definitely helped.
Anticipatory grief⦠I do it with EVERYTHING.
I know you love your mom but every adult should have their own place. Good for you. Life is all about moving forward.
You are allowed to grow. Much luck, love and happiness in your future.
I can totally understand your mixed emotions. Just give yourself the grace to feel what you feel. You can be excited for the new while you grieve letting go of what you have known for so many years. We are here for you on this journey π₯°
I love how much you and your mom are connected and love each other. I see my relationship with my daughter the same way. Her random question of βcan we buy an old Victorian house and remodel it together someday?β gives me such joy. You absolutely donβt need to lose anything to also build something else you will also love so very much!
I think it's good that you and Jack have found a place to call your own and want to go forward in this new experience. I am glad that your current home will stay put. With a global housing crisis, it's good to keep something in case. May the future continue to be bright for you and everyone!!
