Tesla held a showcase on October 15th for its new Roadster, which featured a driverless car doing a flip off of an upside-down ramp and hopping over a row of cars. Footage from this demo has been shared with news outlets, so all of those clips are real, and a few behind-the-scenes videos came out. Otherwise, there are a ton of AI videos. It will take years before these cars are street legal or accessible to the public, so it’s safe to assume if the footage isn’t from this event, it’s AI-generated.

The problem with flying cars isn't that no one knew how to make them, the problem with flying cars is that cars are already incredibly dangerous and accident-prone, and giving the average driver access to flight would be an unmitigated disaster. Just waiting for the headlines about Tesla Roadsters slamming into skyscrapers or falling onto the sidewalk
Personally, I’d love to believe it won’t be street legal.
Imagine drunk drivers in this thing
it's real like a circus show, after the show there's nothing usable
I don't get the hubbub, flying cars have already existed for several decades! They're called "general aviation aircraft". Unfortunately they can only drive on these specialized roadways called "taxiways" and "runways", and they require a seperate license!
if anyone knew anything about physics you'd understand that this is literally a box meant to do the demo and nothing more. that thing couldn't drive itself out of the parking lot
Not only is it "not close to being street legal, or out"... it's that those weren't real cars. It was a stunt show. Physics doesn't work like that. There's major real limitations with compressed air.
The Tesla Roadster is a distraction, we're all fucked.
I’d like to remind people who want to make this legal how difficult it is to get a pilots license (I have over 60 hours and still don’t have it; it varies person to person but I’m not far off at least for my age) Please don’t make this legal we already have enough to deal with 😭
I feel like it's more jumping than flying
It's real video, but not a real car. It's a shell with just enough in it to make it move.
Ok but the one with the car caught in the wires was clever lol. Seriously though, i hope that as few people fell for tesla's market manipulation as possible. The guy is just selling pipe dreams, as has always been the case.
Even the real one was fake
the ramp is magnetic, as per tesla workers admission. Edit: The claims about suction are just bogus. That needs a practical vacuum underneath the car that would also attempt to stop it from moving forwards. You also see no strain on springs for supposed 4tons of sideways force. The bottom of the car sits high, the road is uneven with curves and the car moves - vacuum would be practically impossible. Yes, there is a competitors car that can suction itself to the roof... while sitting stationary, with zero ground clearance so that the car hugs the roof and creates a vacuum seal.
I know FULL well that this car isn't gonna last on the market for long, if it even comes out at all. Like, can you imagine the headlines once one of these things accidentally lands on top of another car? It's hard enough to trust the average person to operate a regular car, let alone a flying one!
i hope no one has a drink in any of those cars
In case it wasn't obvious, you are NOT buying a car with rockets anytime soon
It has to be driverless because all that room is taken up by more mechanical components to do the flying bits. You aren't getting a flying car!
Anyone that thinks that's a real car and think Elon is so cool because of it deserve to be scammed
The amount of people that dont understand the 4 principles of flight is staggering.....
