Bioware died a long time ago. The parasites animating its corpse are what died today.
BioWare shutting down doesn’t really hit me the way I thought it would. I loved the studio back when they made classics like Baldur’s Gate, KOTOR, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age: Origins, but that BioWare hasn’t existed in years. Most of the original creators moved on long ago, and the modern studio hasn’t produced anything meaningful in years. What bothered me most was their farewell tweet listing all those beloved games, even though the current team had no hand in making them. It felt like a company claiming a legacy that belonged to people who aren’t there anymore. The truth is, the BioWare I cared about died years ago. This closure just makes it official.

Dont worry everyone, the lead game director for Veilguard has already failed upwards and is now with Wizards of the Coast. Presumably working on either destroying an established franchise like Baldurs Gate or creating something that nobody will play.

It has been home to the storytellers, developers, and players who bring the worlds we create to life" — and then they mention the game titles that have actually been dead for 15 of those 30 years. Plus, it's funny how they ALWAYS remember the players only when their studio is dead.
