Is the new 7 Series the ultimate luxurious limo?! Get 20% off CarVertical using code Carwow: https://www.carvertical.com/carwow The BMW 7 Series has been updated! But this is no ordinary facelift. BMW claims it is the biggest facelift it has ever undertaken on any car EVER! In fact, the changes are so extensive, it’s effectively a totally new generation rather than a facelift. So does the new 7 Series have what it takes to stand out against its key competitors - the Audi A8 and Mercedes S-Class? Let’s take a look… In terms of the exterior design, it’s still clearly a 7 Series, but with several differences from the previous iteration. Up top, there’s a completely new front end, with a bigger and more in-your-face grille, along with bigger air intakes. This car has the optional DRLs with 12 crystals included in them, and the grooves in the bonnet are the same as those first introduced in the recent M3. The side view is pretty similar to the past edition, while around the back a lot has changed, with tail lights now just short of running full length, and there’s even a boot lip spoiler - not that it’ll do much, though! As for the inside, the changes are once again extensive. There’s a new dash, new screens, new fabrics, a new steering wheel, a new centre console, and the inclusion of the Panoramic Display - it’s basically a whole new interior! There’s now a passenger screen, an all-new infotainment screen (with all-new software), and pretty much every element you touch is high quality. The back seats are also just as premium as they were before. There’s a whole load of customisation in the seats, including a ‘Relaxation Mode’ which reclines the seat and moves the front seats away to offer as much legroom as possible. The Theatre Mode screen has been retained, and it now comes with an 8K display, Dolby Atmos, and it’s now a touchscreen! Under the bonnet, you can choose from 3-litre straight-six diesel or petrol engines. The car we have here is the 740, which means it’s a 3-litre straight-six producing 400hp, with that power sent only to the rear wheels. In the future, there’ll also be a 3-litre PHEV with over 600hp, and an all-electric i7 is also due with 680hp. What’s more, there are even rumours of a V8 edition on the horizon! So is the 7 Series, the ultimate luxury limo? Or would you choose the S-Class instead? Let us know in the comments!
