The full story, plus everything I had to cut, every Tuesday: https://fullstoryweekly.com/?src=yt Inside Amazon, the Prime cancel process was code-named the Iliad. Signing up took 1 or 2 clicks. Canceling took 4 pages, 6 clicks and 15 options, according to the FTC. Amazon let Europe cancel in 2 clicks while the Iliad stayed up in the US. Two days into the trial in Seattle, Amazon settled for $2.5 billion: a $1 billion fine plus $1.5 billion back to customers, up to $200 a person, sent automatically. Amazon did not admit wrongdoing and says it has always followed the law.

I just didn’t fund the account it was debiting from, and it auto cancelled itself..
And the problem is that the fines are never enough to stop these companies from doing these kind of things ! They make far more from it than they lose in damages !
I cancelled once, then got charged anyways. Had to call.
Now let's go after car washes and other monthly services
This bs made my rent check bounce a couple years ago. I hate Amazon to this day for that
Not sure if you're old enough to remember Columbia house or BMG music! 😁
The complaint is public. Paragraph 128: "four-page, six-click, fifteen-option." Paragraph 163: Amazon measured the flow's success by the cancellations it prevented. And the screens in this video aren't mock-ups — they're Attachment Q, the FTC filed the actual pages.
And yet....that's still easier than unsubscribing to AOL in the 90s.
Very simple, go to your bank and get a new debit card, problem solved.
About 5 years ago I had signed up for prime and absent-mindedly kept it going for over a year.... It was a bit of a trial to cancel way back then.... Nothing compared to what you're talking about that's happening now.... Every once in awhile I get tempted to join for a short period to facilitate some purchase.... I have resisted.... And now I will resist permanently..... THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO
Standard horrible practices. It's the same reason shops often have an escalator to come into the store and stairs to come out. It subconsciously makes you spend longer in the store.

It took me more than four hours to close a Bank of America account. I listened to the same three messages on hold about 150 times—constant chirping in my ear, “At Bank of America…” Literal torture just to get me to quit. I couldn’t mute it because then I wouldn’t hear the agent when they picked up… and transferred me to the next place.
I am the only person that I know of who hates Amazon.
Comcast cable used to be famous for their ridiculous gauntlet cancellation process!
As with most things involving power: Easy to vote or put people in power over you, very hard to wrestle that power back. Almost like power is intrinsically corrupting.
Just delete autopay it cancels automatically in India
I canceled and I rarely pay any shipping charges.
Greedy criminals will always find a way to do their crimes!
