The Nerd enters Lucasfilm Games’ cult classic point-and-click adventure, published on NES by Jaleco in 1990. A haunted house with a mad scientist, tentacles, killer plants, and a mysterious meteor sounds right up his alley, until he’s stuck dragging a cursor with the D-pad, guessing commands, pixel hunting in the dark, nuking the house, and blowing up a hamster in the microwave. Nintendo Power said even tuna heads would be hooked. We’ll see about that. The fact that AVGN is still around puts a smile on my face.. This series is one of the main things that got me into retro gaming and becoming a MASSIVE NES fan. Keep kicking ass and showing them shitty games who’s boss, James :) This game’s actually okay though.
There’s a reason people still love Maniac Mansion decades later. Great pixel art, memorable characters, and that wonderfully twisted sense of humor that takes a special kind of person to appreciate.
Hate to say it but oh my god it’s so refreshing having just a classic nerd video no guest stars no crazy plot just a review of a classic game. Please more of this Nerd 😢
“It makes you think” - Fred Fucks
It’s almost Halloween, and nothing is scarier than a confusing “where the fuck do I go” kinda game, and that’s exactly what manic mansion looks like to me
Funniest death is if you play mating music in Green Tentacle's room and Green Tentacle mates with the character to death. Seriously.
Its not halloween until a halloween Nerd episode comes out.. and monster madness of course
As a kid I wanted to live my life inside the game Maniac Mansion.
*"Give finger"* "But who should you give it to?" *"Give finger to game."* "Game does not want finger."

0:41 He is a total nerd. The resemblance is uncanny.
The Maniac Mansion Nintendo Power issue was the first issue I ever owned! I still have it to this day!
The Hamster was only in the first released version. Once Nintendo actually caught wind of the hidden hamster interaction, they mandated that it be scrubbed from future print runs. In those versions trying to nuke the hamster results in a pop-up message reading: "No way, man, those things are just loaded with cholesterol!
AVGN and GrandPooBear doing a video on Manic Mansion in the span of a couple of days. The stars have aligned
Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tentacle is one of my favorite games of all time. The humor, the puzzles, the time travel elements, its great!
As a kid, me and my friend used to build different lego versions of the Maniac Mansion. But it didn't stop there, we developed it into towns, with houses for each kid, stores and other miscellaneous buildings. And afterwards recorded our voices while playing with our build. Good times!
The funniest death occurs when you play mating music in Green Tentacle's room and Green Tentacle mates with the character until death. Seriously
9:28 giving the microwaved hamster to Weird Ed is technically canon based on his dialog from the sequel Day of the Tentacle. That's what broke his mind and made him start collecting stamps to calm down...
James please don't stop being the nerd 😢 I love seeing these videos
I like how the sequel has this whole game hidden in it as a secret
