She stopped cutting them in 1997 as a tribute to her 16-year-old daughter, Latisha, who passed away in her sleep just hours after painting them for her. Today, it takes 15 bottles of polish and four days to decorate them, serving as a lifelong, emotional connection to the last memory she shared with her child.
