Mercedes introduced crumple zones in 1959, ABS in 1978, airbags and belt tensioners in 1981 as a worlds first. Things that all modern cars have today.

In Europe you can also get a crash tested dog crate with your Volvo. It’s of course made by another Swedish company

Mercedes invented basically that in 2002. Its called Pre-Safe Collision Detection. It tightens the seatbelts and adjusts the seats before an inevitable collision. They also invented the first gas powered vehicle. Crumple zones. Antilock Braking Systems. Airbags. Electronic Stability Control. They also invented the modern radiator. Superchargers. Direct Fuel Injection. Multilink Suspension. And smart keys.
