Take it from an old man, young ones, take a chance! It's better than waking up alone decades later realizing that other person WAS interested in you. Ask for some time. Just a short talk over a cup of coffee, tea, or a soda. PUT AWAY THE PHONES AND TALK!!! If they decline that first offer, but continue giving you attention, ASK AGAIN!!! When do you give up? Same as in baseball! Three strikes, you're done. After that, you should know they're just toying with you. Nonetheless, TAKE THE CHANCE!!! No one told me this when I needed to hear it in my teens; 40+ years ago. I figured it out too late. So learn from my mistakes. Truly, I hope this helps someone. Again, this is just about that first step to contact. Nothing more! Don't rush into anything. Take your time, get to know each other. This is the time to discuss the basics; favorite foods, movies, books, etc. That's how to know if you're really compatible.

I can totally relate to this. People stare at me all the time. Sometimes I get compliments from strangers, but mostly stares.

I always thought it was because they are weird and simple in the head. I never stare at anyone, I have social skills, self awareness and a normal functioning brain.

This is so real because most of the time it is not even about attraction only, it is curiosity, hesitation, and overthinking all mixed together. People see you, but their fear of awkwardness keeps them silent.

In New York City eye contact is about less than one second. In the Pacific Northwest people will look at you like they are painting your portrait.

i find that a smile and a simple hello changes everything immediately. and is also a perfect way to determine the mood. if they smile and respond, we can chat from there. if they mutter a hello in return and look away..... well... you know. thanks! really enjoyed this

I'm 75 now in 2026. The other day a young woman age 20 or less looked at me and she smiled so wonderfully that it really did make me feel 21 for a while. She still smiles at me whenever I see her but I think she's just happy to have a job at the market and be working. I'm a mighty good looking old dude but not THAT attractive. I'm so reclusive that seeing this kind of look in a sweetheart's eyes is profound but very rare though it used to happen to me all the time 50 years ago. I told her how lit up she looked when she smiled and she liked that but I'll certainly not go any further with my greetings. It's amazing how that works though.

I get mistaken for people they think they know. It happens often. Sometimes they come up and ask me.

I just had that first one happen once again yesterday walking past a group of females . I could feel all eyes and energy on me. I just keep walking and don't look back. Dudes do it as well.

In my school a girl holded strong eye contact,she was in another class whenever we pass eachother she looks at me but emotions are neutral.if any girl see this message please explain me.

It's very annoying. I look back and drop my gaze to their shoes. Then they finally look away. They don't even smile so I match their actions.
