The worst is the effect on children. They're growing up thinking that's normal food.
When you eat real food people consider it a diet
Can we please stop with the myth that fast food is cheaper than regular food? All it is is easier. Go get a secondhand crockpot and you can make yourself a beautiful meal with really cheap food.
So the Food & Drink Federation said, “We hear you but we won’t stop. We will do just enough to shut you up by putting less crap in our crap but you will be addicted. We will continue to make our foods as unnatural as possible as long as we can get away with it. We are too big to crush. You being sick & unhealthy is big business & it’s not just us.
One of the best ways I've found to stop eating it is not to buy it.
The first thing to do is to teach cooking. I was a single mother below the poverty line, and I managed to serve good food to my kids. But I knew how to cook a tasty meal with few ingredients in 30 minutes.
Insane... Effectively saying "we didn't check to see if it's harmful but if you find out then we might stop. Meanwhile, eat more please..."
What hurts is everyone will see this and nothing will change
When i try to explain this situation to friends, i’ll always use the example of a pie. When you buy a pie in the supermarket, you can finish the whole thing by yourself in under 30 minutes. You’ve probably eaten all of your daily calories, but will feel hungry in a few hours. If you make a pie yourself, you would only eat a slice. Maybe 2, but never the whole pie. You’d be stuffed if you did! And the taste is so much better! Its only because you’ve made a cake with whole ingredients, that doesn’t try to seduce you to another bite and then another bite.
I felt so drained and tired everday. I tried everything, preworkouts, youtube gurus, morning routines that nearly killed me. none of it hit. then i saw someone mention Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks in the comments and it literally changed my life. Following everything in that book past couple of weeks made me realize I was running on empty for YEARS. wish I knew about this years ago🔥
To avoid this stuff, you have to know how to cook from scratch. Schools need to teach cooking to all children and teenagers. The more marketing some food item has, the more it will probably be bad for you. Always read the label. Find out what the ingredients are. Buy some basic cooking equipment, even pound shops sell, cheap cookware.
BBC doing real reporting. Excellent
I have noticed that whenever I eat junk/processed food, I tend to eat a lot more. I feel "hungry" more often. And if I eat certain sweets (ice cream, cookies, donuts, cake, chocolate bars etc) I often go into these binge sessions where it seems like I can't get satisfied enough to want to stop eating the sweets. After a few months of these, I finally made the correlation between when I feel into these "binge eating sessions" and junk/processed foods. It always seemed to be when I allowed myself to "treat myself" to some certain sweets, no matter how good I'd done with eating healthy/clean. I decided to cut all of it out and sent to a carnivore/meat with fruit/veggie diet. The cravings literally just ceased the FIRST DAY. I was in somewhat surprised. But understanding the concept of satiety is what made me choose those food elements to start out with. Proteins are filling foods. But about the urges for sugary food? That's where the fruit idea comes in. Fruit not only covers the sugar/carbs, but also happens to be filling as well due to fiber and water content. Once you combine to food elements that both have these effects into one diet, obviously, there's not much room for the body to "crave" anything to eat. So I predominately eat chicken, fish, and a little beef and pork, usually baked, grilled or pan seared. As far as fruits, I eat anything ranging from apples, grapes, cherries (not the ones in the sugary juice jars), oranges, pineapple, the different melons, strawberries, blue berries, peaches, nectarines, tangerines. And I do this with all meals. One solid protein source and two small/moderate fruit servings. And I only typically eat twice a day with NO NEED OR CRAVINGS for snacks on off days. On days I work, I add another meal, for 3 meals, once about every 5 hours.
When I clicked on the link to watch this up popped an advert for Dorritos before the vid opened. Definition of irony!
Ayyy i watched because this man has a book with the same title: Why can't we stop eating ultra-processed food. Love that book so much ❤
Snap crackle and pop is what we hear in yoga class now in our 40's. 😅
It isn't a failure of willpower. It is engineered food!
I'm so lucky to live in Greece, the food here is on another level, it doesn't compare to all the cancer coming from Western countries, what they call snacks and all their fast food junk.
One day, as a nation, we will be comfortable listening to a documentary without theatrical music in the background. One day we will just listen to words without the drama added-hopefully in my lifetime.
I cannot explain enough about how much I needed to know this, I was struggling with this thought of how to deal with irresistible urge to consume food.
