The Penrose process is pretty efficient. You need a rotating black hole though, so it has some engineering challenges for engine designers.

For solar panels, the Carnot-like limit is about 93%. Sunlight acts like radiation from a source at about 6000 K, while a solar cell and its surroundings are near 300 K, so the temperature difference makes the ultimate thermodynamic limit very high, around 93%.❤
