I've been watching videos from people like you for a while -- the experts that provide guidance on skills, projects, and careers. As a life science professional looking to shift careers into technology, while also pursuing a MS in CS, its frightening how your videos have shifted from describing linear objectives (learn this, career that) to your current video (learn fundamentals and hope it sticks somewhere). Its helpful to see this shift because it does make a scary subject harder to ignore. I absolutely appreciate the honesty you share here!

Hey, just stumbled over your video, and I have to say that was very freeing to hear. You spoke out of my soul. That was soo healing to my inner self. Thanks. I really enjoyed how honest you are about this. I feel like it is really hard nowadays to find someone who is just generally open-minded and not just tries to convince you of what is the right thing to think and act. And I really enjoy that about your conclusion you just spoke out of my soul. Thank you so much. It feels very nice to listen to a person who actually confirms what I'm already feeling and thinking inside, but can't really talk about it because nobody else is thinking or talking that way (if you know what I mean 🙂). As a hobby game dev, it feels like my hobby has just been ripped off of me because nobody thinks that software development is a thing anymore. I do not see that yet. At least, not how it has been predicted over the last 2 years. And I do use agentic coding, but probably not as extrem as some people try to automate it. So Thank you soo much for this realignment of opinions and greetings from Germany.

While there were 2 groups: One who believes that AI will replace many jobs. And the other who believes the opposite. Marina is the only one who is in the middle and says that we don't know yet. This is spot on.

I am a computer science student and I am looking for a student job in Germany, but unfortunately I can’t find anything, and I’m not alone in this. All these videos of people who claim to be experts and make predictions on the job market really piss me off and demotivate me, and they waste my time. I trust you and from now on I will only try to watch your videos about AI, so please always be honest with us students. So pls feel responsible, and i trust what you say.

Thanks for this. I'm in exactly the position of working toward a career in the field that you described (right down to learning calculus on Brilliant😂). I needed to hear it. Your videos keep me sane while the industry is changing so fast it's hard to keep up.

Sometimes i feel Farming is only job secure.

No one knows but to quote the movie Airheads, “cream always rises! Super duper!” Haha but seriously, I’m just focusing on mastering the craft and making the best version of myself. EVERYONE will need to adjust but that’s honestly always the case isn’t it? AI or not

if AI becomes able to check its own work for accuracy the way humans are able to, then it's over for like 60-70% of intellectual work, the current wall is that possibly due to lack of full consciousness AI is not able to fully and accurately establish if it's not hallucinating or if the task is really properly completed, that's despite being able to do more than most humans but the really tough part that no one talks about is - if 10-20% people lose job the situation won't be what many might imagine - that the lucky majority is safe and everything else is fine, no the people who will be let go will be desperate and do any work for any pay, employers will start to actively fire people who weren't yet replaceable and hire someone for less, meaning your wage will go down and your job security will go down massively so, we're living in truly apocaliptic times

can it "reason" though?

I’m very optimistic about the future of AI making many things possible that were too time consuming to do before such as developing complex robots, analyzing software for flaws, rapid software development, rapid design and development. It’s especially advantageous for small businesses and individual creative people who can’t afford large staffs of experts.

People only predict the loss of existing jobs, not the creation of new ones. The automobile killed off horse-related jobs, but it created not just gas stations, but also shopping centers, larger houses, commuting...

You make very good and informative videos.

This is one of the most balanced and realistic discussions about AI and jobs I’ve seen recently. A lot of reports, predictions, and headlines around AI completely contradict each other, which shows how uncertain and fast-changing this space really is. The most valuable takeaway here is probably adaptability, learning fundamentals, and staying flexible instead of panicking over every AI prediction online. Personally, AI4Laymans and Rohvoo helped me understand AI, workflows, and practical learning in a much more beginner-friendly and less overwhelming way.

Great video! I think the estimates of AI replacing jobs are overstated. While I think that AI can improve productivity, you still need humans to orchestrate, troubleshoot, and maintain quality and efficiency. Also, the raw compute cost required for AI to perform tasks often exceeds the salary needed to pay a human to do the same tasks. Add that to the fact that studies have not shown that AI adds much to the bottom line: "AI is showing significant, measured productivity gains in specific tasks, but it is not yet 'earning its keep' in terms of broad, net profitability for most companies. While 94% of companies in a McKinsey survey reported not yet seeing significant value from AI, others report increased efficiency, with Morgan Stanley noting that nearly half of companies surveyed saw a 1%–10% productivity boost."
