We all got Bambu-zled
3 minutes and I learned more about this situation than from most news posts
Now we are waiting for Bambu Lab to draw the "Protect the Children" card.
Bambu has joined Synology and others in the 'no, thanks' file.
hey the thing we`ve been saying was gonna happen, happened!
Louis is now hosting the code himself for all to use
This is beyond stupid. They built their floor of the house above Prusa's floor, while Slic3r owns the whole property. Now they're mad at the guy who built a small home in the attic. Insane to have the balls to threaten someone over software you didn't make, just modified, because the rest is open source.
An LLM wrote that stupid blog post, too. What a waste of electricity these people are.
Thank you and Louis Rossmann for bringing this to light.
This is 100% why I went with the SV08. They promised an open source printer, and I got an open sourced printer.
We don't need them, they need us.
Synology and Bambu are now on my no-buy-list. Done with this.
Well Rossmann is now hosting the code himself
TLDW: don't buy bambu, ever.
Thank you for keeping this important video short instead of 10 minutes long
aaaaand bambulab just joined my blacklist
We’re shopping for our first 3D printer this month. I’m glad I saw this. Thanks for sharing!
0:23 "Caution, live bees" Nice sticker, probably my new third place behind "X-Radiation produced by this device has been sufficiently shielded" (seen on a kettle) and "For your information: Smoke escaping from this device is an expected operating condition, and not a cause for concern or alarm" (on a ThinkPad).
Louis Rossmann got that idea, so he's now hosting that code himself and daring Bambu to come after him.
honestly it's such a shame they've gone this route. their printers are incredibly user friendly and need almost zero setup, if they'd just embraced third parties rather than trying to lock everything down they'd be easy to recommend
