Any man that has 4 beat up chimney starters been grilling for a long time. Great advice.
for everyone talking about fire starters... fold quarter sheet of paper towel, treat it with veg oil. light it, and place under whatever coals/wood you want to cook with, reap the savings.
Biggest thing is the pit itself if your bottom vents wide open and top vent also open bad news leave bottom vent half open leave top vent 1/4 open for long cooks thank me later
Man I appreciate this after 8 years of wasting time & fuel. Thanks
Thank you for not reciting the history of charcoal via Wikipedia before getting to the point. You're a legend.
Tried leg quarters last week on my legacy but didn't turn out well. Skin rubbery, little dry and stringy. Tried today, making a few changes (still learning this grill) and more charcoal. Able to maintain better temperature control. It worked. Only took 50 minutes. Perfect crispy skin, juicy and tender. Thanks again for your help with your videos. God Bless.
Yea,I been stop waiting on the coals to turn completely white. More than likely you might throw some extra coals on top anyway. Lol🤷🏿♂️
This is exactly correct.
So this is where ive been going wrong! My charcoal very often burns out pretty fast. Used this tip today to cook some delicious chicken thighs. You saved dinner tonight, thank you sir 🙏
Had that exact grill lasted 5 years made a lot of good meals on it
Yup cause those top coals going to get covered by the fully lit ones anyways. Nice to see someone doing it right
100% agree. This is something I learned recently on my own, after 20 something years of grilling. Another thing I do occasionally, since I learned about this, is I will put a few large chunks of completely unburned lump in the bottom of the grill and pour my lit coals on top of them. The unlit chunks then burn slowly and help with airflow from underneath.
I've given up the chimney. Now I just put charcoal right in, a couple pieces of kindling wood running the length of the coals and a Royal Oak Tumbleweed. I easily get 3 hours of consistent 325 to 350 degrees.
I've been wasting fuel and time with waiting for the all white color of the coals 😮 i won't be doing that again. Thanks for the tip!!😊
Just have a feeling this guy would be so much fun at a braai. Sounds so genuine and authentic which is rare these days with so many AI voiced and background music videos. Refreshing
Here I thought I was doing it wrong. Perfect use of a catcher title. I've always waited till the smoke stops and the flames start out of the top of the starter. I figured the top go down first and are buried by the white coals so they should have no problem finishing.
This Dude Is The Truth
This video was a real eye-opener for me! I bought a PK 360 a couple months ago and I always waited for the coals to turn gray. I wondered why my coals were not lasting that long. Can’t wait to try this out during my next cook. Thanks!
Useful and to the point. Great video.
i just wait for the white smoke to disappear
