Japanese food culture is absolutely amazing for its historic depth leading to precision preparation of ingredients for finest dishes!
I ran into this treasure of a documentary while trying to figure out how to make Dashi from scratch. An absolute delight ❤

TY! I learned SO MUCH!! That was incredible!
Japanese are known for their mastery in being diligent, disciplined, respectful, accurate, resilient, adaptable, selective and perfectionist in a way but considerate at times too.
Amazing. Masterfully documented a piece of Japanese culture that I adore deeply. Thank You.
Many years ago I had a friend who married a gal from Kyoto. She introduced me to Japanese cusine. It was she who first got me to try Sushi, Miso soup and Ramen. She spoke of Umami and Hon Dashi and was a pretty decent cook in her own right. I've come to learn of the deep connection that Japanese people have to their food and it's origins. Literally everything has a long and cultural significance. Fascinating really. And delicious. I really enjoyed this documentary. Might be time to make some miso soup again now fall is here.😊
Everything that exists in this world has its own purpose and mold is an example. Impressive!
- I live where we have a change of seasons as well. I wouldn't know what I'd do without snow, the ocean, && the change of the leaves. Beautiful footage.
Being led through the full, detailed process was such a treat.
Konbu swims even though it's a plant?? That's crazy cool😮
