Of all the wonderful places that Bourdain visited around the world it was plainly obvious that Vietnam was the place that meant the most to him. If heaven has a Vietnam I hope Bourdain is sitting on a plastic stool, slurping noodles and sipping a cold beer.

I went to Vietnam a few years ago and absolutely fell in love. From the busy streets to the little plastic chairs and tables, to the beautiful views, but most importantly the people. I remember walking around a street one day and a group of youngsters gestured me to come and have a drink, I walked over, sat down and drank the guys beer. This led to hilarious laughter after which I bought a round for all the guys. We went for Karaoke afterwards en then for late night spicy food. It was such an amazing evening, and I never saw them again after that night. I had many of those types of nights. The Ha Giang pass was my favourite place, Bun Cha became my favourite food. I absolutely want to live in Vietnam one day soon.
Rest in Peace Anthony Bourdain. Because of him, the first time I went to Vietnam I took a taxi from the airport straight to the pho restaurant on Bat Dan that he visited. I didn’t even have a hotel yet, I just sat there drinking a beer and waiting for the best noodles in Hanoi.
I was sweating on a chair at a table in a random street in Thailand with something delicious in my bowl. Antony is the only reason why I traveled solo to Thailand two weeks ago, sad to be back but already booked for the next time and to visit Vietnam, Laos, the Philippines and South Korea next April. Thank you Anthony for giving me the excitement of traveling and meeting lovely people, have the best food and do much more crazy shit. Rest in peace ❤ we miss you

In case anyone else was wondering (since it wasn't clear from the story he told in the episode), Nguyen Qui Duc's father was in fact alive and was released in 1984.
The food, the people of Vietnam, Bourdain serves us a hint of a wonderful culture. And to hear someone recite Robert Frost from the other side of the world makes me wonder how we get stuck in our bubble.

I miss listening to and watching this great man - I hardly watch TV anymore but find so much solace and peace in re-watching these episodes multiple times. I think he saved me many times. RIP Mr Bourdain.

its cool how much Bourdain loved Vietnam, the man revered the country, and i've loved him for a couple decades. im moving to Vietnam next year, ive never been, just gonna wing it, and seeing how much he loved this place makes me happy.

I love Vietnam. I’ve only been once ... to Hoi An, Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh as a solo female traveler. I felt completely safe throughout my trip. I was first introduced to Vietnamese food during a trip to Paris and fell in love with Pho, mems & all that deliciousness. I subsequently never missed a trip to the Vietnamese quarter anytime I was in Paris. The London scene took a while to take off but still not in the Paris league. This episode took me back. I look forward to my next trip hopefully in the not too distant future🌈🌈🌈
