There was a restaurant close to me in Beijing that was also definitely mostly for people with physically demanding jobs. It was a bit more - maybe upwards of 14 RMB, but the amount of rice you would get with each serving was insane.

Doesn't look cheap at all. It's decent, clean, affordable, enough for them to have a kick for the rest of the working day. I feel lucky we Asian have food stalls like this helping us to get by.

China is known for such eateries. I have eaten at some eateries like this in China 7 years back. Best part is that I am a vegetarian and they went out of the way to cook a potato or tomato veg curry for me and served it with rice.

In Singapore, they have Indian banana leaves restaurant. If you can't afford the expensive food, you can have unlimited rice 🍚 and curry for a small amount of money.
