As a person who had turtles before, the best you can do is gently brush their shell with a soft toothbrush underwater, this will help them and turtles love it, they get really itchy when it’s the season for their shell to peel, but don’t try to peel the shell with the toothbrush, just gently rub and scratch, your turtle will be happy
