Makes a sense that we would be the real aliens. As humans we're the only species on the planet that doesn't make sense, no other species needs to purify their water or cook their food before consumption. What if the moon was our space ship that was also positioned as a satellite to calm the oceans and control the tides. In doing so the rapid stabilization of the tides shocked the planet, killing the dinosaurs in the process and stabilizing the atmosphere for humanity. Our species had to adapt to this planet, losing the knowledge and traditions of our alien ancestors.

I believe if we became technologically advanced enough to travel the stars in search of life, and we didn’t come across any for an extended period of time that we may decide to try and jump start life on a planet so that we were not alone. It’s a lonely idea that with all the vast universe and all the star systems within it that there is no other life. Might as well make a “garden”
